Two bands that i really really want too see extremly badly are playing on the same night at different places David Wilcox(canadian version ie. rock version) and The Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir(the band ill probably end up seeing even tho David Wilcox never comes out here to the prairies) now that i told you my problem i was wondering if you guys have any ideas of wat i should do, which band i should go see
I had the same problem 4 years ago with band 'A' and band 'B' I went to the band 'A' because I guessed it wouldn't come again to the near future. I didn't regret it, and i was right. Band 'B' came again the next year and band 'A' came again this year (3 years later). Bands 'A' and 'B' are fictional names. No animals were harmed during the writing of this reply.
Flip a coin. Then before seeing which side of the coin ended up on top, think of which side of the coin you want on top. That's how you know which band you really want to see more.
I have to make a call like this several times a year. True, i like smaller scenes so I have more musical choices. Here's part of the mental side of choosing: have I seen the group before and been really blown away? (this is a positive) are they likely to be playing again in a reasonable amount of time? (for regioal touring acts that is a one-to-three times a year limit, annual to twice on national tours) Am I looking for something a bit out of my loop? (I'm toying with Tool at a venue I have boycotted for a while--changed it's name and an obnoxious parking situation) Is one band something really special musically? (even if both options are, is one possessing a mastery level that i truly must see?) Is one an "event" sort of tour? (Had I been a wealthy yuppie, I would have been at Red Rocks for CSNY last month. I'm not wealthy.) then if all things are the same, I look at distance and ticket price or venue. Some venues I simply don't like. I loathe arena shows. During the summer is the only point where I see high-attendance shows (9000 at Red Rocks is pretty much my limit. Thanks to the Universe that bands WANT to get less to say they played that spot) Of course if you are part of a couple, this system will have flaws! Good luck and enjoy wherever you wind up.
Definitely David (My Eyes Keep Me In Trouble) Wilcox. At least 20 years ago it was a party and great time for everyone
