Anyone planning to check out Philly folk fest this year? You should check it out. Gonna be my 5th straight year going
Well, me and my girlfriend just had a baby, so that would be why we wouldnt have gone this year anyway BUT, I had a bad experience 2 years ago when I took too much acid, and I brought a friend there who had a major psychotic moment (not like a breakdown, more like he scared everyone around him) I mean I was laughing the whole time becuase I though it was funny as shit, but apparantley no one else did, blah blah blah I just shouldnt really be around A LOT of people that go But whatever, I dont mind
Check out www.folkfest.org The only performers I recognize are Shemekia Copeland, David Bromberg and Jackson Browne. I'm hoping to get there: never been. I can never convince anyone to spend the money to go.
I'm not going to this due to the fact that I will be up in NY doing the deco for a festival up there. Well I hope you all have a great time!
a lot of people get discouraged when then hear "folk fest". But if they just go once, they're hooked for life. I'll be their wed. morning til monday morning
definite do not misses: Joel Raphael Jimmy LaFave (I LOOOOOOOVE Jimmy) Hot Tuna, esp if Barry means Barry Sless Terry Hendrix is a hoot. Great breakup songs with humor Antje Duvekot -She's the next big folk thing...really. Eliza Gilkyson and I'd go see arrogant worms on the name alone!
I'm def going.... Ive wanted to go for so many years and never made it. this is going to be my first year.... i hope to see some of you there, especially you dudes from the MJ forum.
make sure all you newbies check out some of the music being played by your fellow campers, like The Philadelphia Jug Band, The Psychedelic dreamers pussycat swingers club, and if i weren't brain dead at the moment i'd name a few more.... Also bring swim gear for the creek that runs along side the campground. If your buying a ticket, come early on thursday to ensure a good spot. Just found out i'll be their on tues.
I know the guys from Pussycat Swingers. Haven't seen Pete in about 2 years. Tell Mike, Pete, Justin, Meghan, etc..., that Jim from Boston says "high". P.S...: The Azzholes get some nice jams goin'.
Yes the azzhole country is always fun! Its funny, a lot of times the music in the campground is better then whats on stage.
