this group and saying it is a study by a scientific person and when i tell her its a hate group she says no ALOT of the stuff is true

 

Man, that's horrible. I don't know what to say though, hopefully your parents will chnage their mind and be more supportive.

Um, I guess you could try and talk to your parents calmly and basically say that it's who you are andc old you please be a bit more supportive? And, well, I don't want to speak for you, but when *if* I tell my mum, if she looks at stuff like that, then I'd move far away and probably never come back, excpet to see my more accepting friends

Unfortunately, if your mom is reading and believing those lies, there may be nothing you can do. You can pray for her. Pray hard. And tell her you're praying for God to forgive her for hating gay folks.

People who read that garbage have made up their minds and seek out places like the FRI looking for a reason to support their ignorance and Bigotry. Wikipedia sites The Southern Poverty Law Center as a reference. "(The SPLC) lists this organization as a hate group." The SPLC is a credible source, the foremost defenders of freedom and opponent of Bigotry in the U.S. They have been fighting hate for decades.

You could try writing them for literature. Show your mom the site, and down load some of the articles. I did a search there for "Family Research Institute". Click for results.

Perhaps if she sees herself cast in the same light as gun toting neo-nazis, she will see the light. Like I said, you can pray for her.

It is sad that people, having apparently much graver problems at their hands, and being patently unable to cope with them, suddenly discover an overwhelming interest in other people's sexual lifestyles.

Off they go on a crusade to right the wrong and leave their own issues and problems unresolved.

Move on and leave them to fight their windmills.

that is disgusting. I read through some of their articles on the home page, it's all unfounded shit, like reading a bad tabloid except that they're serious. I'm sorry your mum is taking this seriously, that must be so hard on you. I hope things work out!
