Hey im planning on getting a 1970-1979 VW westfilia and i wanted to hear from some people that have them. is it worth buying? i hear ppl have to put alot of money into them tell me what u know thanks.
I knew a guy who had one, they are awesome! it was alot of fun riding in it. The parts for them from what i have seen in magazines are real reasonable. If you can find one go for it.
alright awesome man thats the only reason my dad dosent want me to get one cus he dosnt want me to throw all my money away on it but i dont think that will happen.
everybody plans on getting one. the problem is finding one. you should get that done first before you set your heart on a VW bus.
im getting one soon and i am planing on spending all of the money i earn and all of the money from my paycheck restoring it and rebuilding it...
Also a friend of mine is selling hers, check out the ad at: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=93557 Let me know if you have any questions about buses, maintenance email list is www.type2.com, for those in the southeast there is www.fullmoonbusclub.com, camping every full moon, wahoo! come to ireland. there's tons of them around and in the paper the other day i saw a 1969 one for €3000
Young friend, you don't know what you're talking about. Good luck my brother, you can find a cheaper rustier one but it won't take you very far!!! It will indeed take all your paychecks to "restore" that old rustbucket you have your eye on. A bit of advice, save your money for a nicer one that has been well-maintained. I know you won't take this advice, but you will figure it out eventually, after you don't succeed, and are broke, and your bus is broke, and you have to sell it. Actually, this is a fair price for a '73 with an excellent motor, dual Dellorto DRLA's (do you even know what those are?), and it will sell for about $2200. Trust me, I've driven one for 5 years, I bought my '70 Westy for $650 but have spent over $3000 and hundreds of hours labor fixing EVERYTHING to get it reliable, and I do all the work myself. If that sounds like a lot of money to you, start saving. Sorry to seem so pompous, but this is in response to your flip, uninformed comment. Peace man, but respect the wisdom of your elders. It takes work to live the VW life. Until you've put in the work, talk all you want about being an "expert", but nothing you say has any legitimacy. You want to ask about buses, let me know or go to the links above. You want to spout off about all you know, well I guess this forum is good for that. Will70Westy
hey getonthebus........... thanks for that link, the bus is right up the road for me. i am gonna see if they wanna show it to me and it really isnt a bad price for the bus if it runs good and is dependable.... i mean they are collectors items, of course the price will be kinda high, people love the damn things.............
in mexico they are use like metros...so u can find them everywhere..im planning on buying one next time i go to mexico...so yea...
i dont want to argue with you...but i have rebuilt quite a few...and i know what im talking about u probbly know what you are talking about too but i guess i can just find them cheaper than you
Truer pearls of wisdom were seldom written. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/index.php The Samba dot com is an excellent source for VWs. I, however, am still yearing for that ZAP! Smart car
