Corn ball I realize but it's very sad when I try to grab a salad from a salad bar and find that I don't much care for most of what's offered. In lieu of iceberg I generally use spinach or watercress. My salads have two or more sprouts (onion, clover, radish, alfalfa) and beans and lentils. I add fresh sliced mushrooms, tomato wedges and thinly sliced cucumbers. I make oil and vinegar dressings from scratch.
Thinking of it just works up an appetitte :)

Yeah I love salads that I make. I like them with fruit in, mango, apple, sultanas (not all at once). I love sprouts too and make dressings with olive oil, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar. Yummy!

Im a big fan too, anything in it but iceberg lettuce and olives really. Im too lazy to make my own dressing so opt for the dressings Kraft puts out. I like wine vinigar on my salads especially and sometimes use just that in leu of a dressing.

I eat salads almost every day. I love my raw veggies too much to skip them. But yeah, sometimes it's tough to find an "okay" salad when I'm out. Iceburg is yukky to me, and I don't want egg or bacon bits all over it, and I want mountains of veggies - not just a bed of lettuce & 2 skinny cucumber slices ;)

OOOOH, love salads. I dont often make a salad for myself, however, if i'm out to dinner I always get the house salad. My new fav restaurant is Italian, and they have the best. They dont give enough olives though. I always get a penne with alfredo sauce, the cheese sticks and the salad. It has this amazing house dressing, it's a vinegar of sorts but very flavorful.

Anyone ever hate when you get the lettuce that has the thick stalk running though the center? I always like to get the crisp leaves, I hate the thick middle stalk part. It makes me sick to my tummy. (I dont like the texture same with celery!). So, I just toss that part out. LOL

You might think it funny, but yes there are many vegetarians I have known who do not make or care much for eating salads. They eat fried tofu, stir fried vegetables, chips, popcorn, and some things I'd rather not mention in polite company :)

I have boring salads. Every day for "breakfast" I have spinach and/or spring mix with some balsamic vinagrette, broccoli, and onions. Occasionally I add whatever's in the garden to it.

I'd love to get more creative stuff, but when you're the only one in a poor family who doesn't eat processed foods, it's pretty much impossible.

I like salads, but not as much as most non-veggies would expect me to.

I can find my nutrition in other ways; I'm a much bigger fan of just plain, raw veggies on their own.

I'd rather eat plain spinach straight from the package than making a salad with it. I appreciate most foods for their own unique taste and texture, and I often don't care to mix things.

And, this may sound weird, but I love eating leafy veggies plain, with my hands... it makes me feel primal and animalistic. :p

I nibble my salad with my fingers too! (okay, when I don't use dressing or salsa on it) I'll toss cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, pepper slices & carrot sticks onto a bed of romaine & spinach leaves and just sit & crunch them. My husband rolls his eyes & says I'm weird, but I look at him with his hamburger and point out that he's eating his cow with his hands and he goes back to muscle munching.

I'd thought I liked my "finger-salads" because I'm just a tactile person... but maybe it's my inner guinea-pig surfacing ;)

    I hate "american" salad.

    iceburg lettuce ::yuck::
green peppers (maybe in a sub)
    dry mushrooms (no thankyou)
    olives (i like)
    tomatoe (i prefer sundried)
and onions (i prefer cooked and NOT dry)

why are these the only options for salads and anything else veggie. subs, pizza... it's all the same! where's our spinache and our squashes and our avocado's? rasins, nuts and berry's? why does it seem like all these meat mouths have no creativity in the veggie department? are they not indeed omnivores? who would it NOT benefit to start creating better salads and veggie items?

so it's ok if you are presently calling yourself a vegan & working somewhere that does not use any animal products/labor? is that what this is about?

I like salads well enough, but really only eat them once every week or two. The problem is that salads are not filling enough (yes, even with nuts, fruits etc.) I get hungry half and hour later. Salads are not for the fast metabolismed.
