apples aren't really exatly a solid either. nor are you or i. nor any living substance or organsim. although it can also be argued that life like proccessess can go on in an aquious medium. life as we 'know' is even requires one. generaly this is contained within thin membrains called cell walls.

the only time in real life you deal with absolute solids or liquids is when you're talking about minerals, or something you play with in chem lab.
