I'm on my way to becoming a vegetarian (unfortunately my parents refuse to let me eat dinner withouth meat). Generally the only time I eat meat is when I'm with my parents for dinner, though I work nights so its getting to be a rarity. Anyways, I was wondering if anybody knew some vegetarian recipies that meat eaters would enjoy as well? It would help me out a bunch, as well as my veggie friends that want to eat over. Thanks a million!
i saw this book at my library that had recipes for veg-heads and meat-freaks alike, but i forgot the name of it. try making pasta with meatless sauce, or vegitarian lasagna (you can buy it frozen at the store, my mom loves it and she eats meat) just dont make anything extreme like tofu or something, it takes some time getting used to that taste, trust me
for one thing, i find it very hard to swallow when a 17 year old says her parents are "making" her do somthing... because i find it VERY VERY hard to take when parents do not recognize that their child is becoming an adult and should be respected as one. Have you taken the respect route? thats what fixed my parents when i was 16 I told them how could they expect me to turn into a functioning adult capable of making decisions for myself if they cannot respect the fact I am indeed becoming an adult and MUST begin to make my own decisions. BUt about the food part. my dad is a meat freak with a capitol MEAT... but I bought Yves veggie ground round and made a super delicious shepherd pie with it and he didnt even NOTICE it was veg'n meat not the real thing. SO theres that, plus of course there is TONS of pastas, burritoes, tacos with veggie ground round, ummm salad? just kidding, salad, ACK. my hubby makes home made pizza a lot and theres no meat in it... also FA-HE-TA's are really good and easy, tons of casoroles. THere is so much food out there that isnt meat, it is one TINY food group, I always tell my dad, im not picky.. he is! I ommit one entire food group where he ommits half of evey other food group as ALL he eats is meat and potatoes! Also a hint of the day, if you want to show your parents your consious of your food and nutritional needs read this page i just found and share I think its got a good bit of smarts to it. Anyways, good luck
