I played my first club gig last night at a place called the Pepper Jack Cafe in Hamilton...I had a really awesome time, and we played really well, and filled the place. I'm really happy now, cause it was awesome... I was playing jazz and shit with my dad (on sax), and his friend Mark Sepic (guitar/percussion/harmonica/loops). We did a bunch of standards, and some covers, including All Blues, My Funny Valentine (as a slow funk), Summertime (sort of bluesy and trippy), some Bill Frisell stuff (all atmospheric, spacey and trippy) then Papa's Got a Brand New Bag, I Feel Good, Dark Star, and Low Rider. We played the whole night (two sets) and the owner said he would like me to come play there again sometime. And of course I got paid, which made it even better. So I had an awesome time. I just wanted the effects on the cube, so I plugged into the cube, and then out the record out thing, and into a DI box...that way I had some basic effects and EQ.
Playing for people and sharing music is my favorite thing to do. It makes me feel so great. And I'd always dreamed of playing at this place, cause i've seen a lot of great shows there, and it was so amazing to play there...thanks...summertime is an awesome tune..
