my gosh you are a silly child.....very silly indeed but hey, everyone makes mistakes but its only a mistake if you didnt learn from it
Of course the locker search was legal, it was on school grounds. People have NO RIGHTS on school grounds.
you dont get out of it. you smoked weed on school premises, you accept the posession charge, hire a lawyer..go to court...and get it dropped (being first offense) and continue smoking BUT not at school...its no ones fault but your own just stand strong as a pot smoker and do not let this bother you.
I'm sorry, gal. This wasn't a good idea, but you already know that. In this day and age you gotta be really careful around people when you toke. That means don't do it in a public building like that. I have no clue what's gonna happen to ya, but I think Eugene and localhippy know what they're talking about. Wishin you luck. peace
haha call me dumb, cause it was, but i got caught smoking at skool too. had been fer a while but my luck wasn't great that day. anywho, i ended up pleading guilty (there was no chance of getting out of it, was even gonna plead innocent but it wouldn't have worked..) and getting the paraphernalia (sp) charges dropped, but i have to go to drug ed. classes (haha still haven't gone to them) and i'm on unsupervised probation for a year...oh, and i had to pay a $50 fine...it would've been more but my lawyer told the judge how poor we are. what pisses me off though is this girl i know recently got busted with a quarter and they didn't arrest her (same age as me) and she only got suspended for three days (i got suspended for ten)...argh. wtf. they just hate different people.
To add to the insult = "The bag " had she had taken a pre roll joint to school i would just said = i have no idea maybe some 1 was here 3 minutes before i was. Too late now brain child.
obviously having weed at school is a horrible idea and smoking it there an even worse one but let's assume you ignore the reasons to not do it, wouldn't you be less likely to be found out if you kept the weed on your person (in your shoe perhaps)? while the school owns the locker and can search and do with it as they please, i wouldn't think they have any right whatsoever to search your body. just a thought.
I don't know you at all or the other girl, so I could be totally wrong, but If I was to take a guess, you've been in more trouble at school then she has, or you look like you get into more trouble. If that's the case, he probably figured "Well, she's a nice girl with a bright future, I'm sure she's learned her lesson from this experience." Which is of course, totally wrong. Homey- Your right. I'm not positive that it's a nationwide law or what, but at my school the assistant principal (or anyone for that matter) cannot touch you, period. When you get searched, you have to empty out your pockets, take off your jacket while they go through it (they can make you take off your shoes, but I don't think they ever do) then you have to like pull your pants tight against your leg so they can see if there's anything still in there (totally inefficent method.) I live in a real small town and there's only like 800 kids in my high school, so we don't have a cop at school. A lot of the bigger schools have a cop present everyday, even if there isn't much need for them, just because the cop can perform a pat-down on students and search them much more throughogly(sp.)
that's true, i didn't even think about people who go to large schools (i was in a graduating class of about 40) so needless to say there were no security guards/genuine cops at our school, unless there was a specific reason for it. also, as kind of a related question, has anyone else ever had their parking lot swept with k9 units? this happened a few times while i was in highschool and while they never found anything (not due to lack of things to find i assure you) i never understood where they got off pulling that.
None of the schools I've attended have ever used drug dogs. I was told the semester after I left they brought in dogs regularlly that were trained specifically for tobbaco products though. (The punishment for tobbaco was worse then alcohol) \/\/\/\/\/ If your referring to my post, I don't think it was the police that actually brought in the dogs. I'm pretty sure the school funded that endeavor, but either way, I think our education is a tad bit more important than the fact kids are smoking on school grounds.
^^^Agreed. apparently it's more important to catch some cigarette-smoking highscoolers than to solve some murder or rape cases, or something worthwhile. good to see our tax dollars at work.
Welcome to Virginia. I went to high school there near DC and we had multiple cops from the county that operated entirely out of the school, and we also had about 10 private civilians we called narcs who just drove around with binoculars and other surveillence equipment trying to bust people for smoking cigs, skipping, fighting, drugs, etc. Anyone who was busted with even small amounts of herb there was put through all kinds of shit and made to feel like a hardened criminal. It was worse to get caught for weed than lots of things that did or would hurt other people. Complete bullshit. Sorry you got caught, really. The state should most likely give you probation and require you to take drug classes. As for the school, that depends. There were people at my school who were expelled for a gram.
fcking america. I was busted, after having ran from the cops! They chased me in their car and yelled at me and my friends, told us 2 get our hands on the hood. We empty'd our pockets of knives and pipes and busters and they let us go! They even gave me my knife back! And this was right in front the school!
Similar story happened to me, except I did not actually smoke weed on school. I simply possed it, parked outside but still on school grounds (something I did not know) and got searched, and arrested. You cant get out of it, you may just get lucky. If your troubles are only with school, no worries, even if you get expelled id rather have taken that punishment. If your troubles are with the law, than your going to have to go to court. However a lot of things can happened, perhaps the case will be dropped before you even go, or the case will get dropped on court. Im my case I was not as lucky, I just had a lawyer and got rid of the suspended license and drug classes that way. I still have to complete 6 months of informal probation.
