How many people in here can realize they are dreaming? I used to be able to do it a lot, but now it seems it's random. However, when I do realize, I do whatever i want. One example would be flying. I can fly as far and as fast as I want, it's the most exhilerating feeling. But one thing that I also have to comment on is whenever I am about to take off, there is always a man in a black suit and sunglasses. I asked my mom about it, and she said he probably represents my doubt on whether i can fly or not. suggestions?

i almost always know when im dreaming. the only exception is that i dont know im dreaming when im about to wake up but i am able to control everything i do then. for example when it morning and the alarm wakes me up i go straight back to sleep and i dream that i am getting ready for school (thts when i dont know im in a dream). its really frustrating.

its often when I experience a heavy emotion in my dream....I dont realize. When I'm dreaming of simple stuff...I often realize....and wonder even when I wake up.

Sometimes I realize I'm dreaming (which is useful especially when it's a nightmare, as I don't get that scared). A few times, when I was in a nightmare, I started shouting (in the dream reality only) that I wanted to wake up. Those surrounding me in the dream were looking curiously at me!

Oh i had one the other day where i knew i was dreaming and i started controlling it but i think that's the only one i've ever had like that. I'll remember about that flying thing for if it happens again and i'll give it a go :)

I dont like controlling dreams... I like to see where dreams take me... Unless its one of those interactive dreams where i can "choose" what to do. But other then that I like to go with the flow and see what my dreams teach or show me...

PS, Best dream ever : I was at a Bob Marley concert it was awsome... It just happen and i was like looking at him through a camra view or something like that...

I've had many lucid dreams. It usual takes the fun out of it when you realize its not really happening. At that point I generally wake up. Once you start lucid dreaming, your mind will then need to invent more elaborate schemes to keep you asleep and under its influence. For me that means evermore zany and wacky scenarios.

But when you realize you're dreaming, you can literally do anything you want. You can imagine yourself on mars, having sex, whatever you want. It's incredible, the sense of power.

i can occasionally do the lucid dream thing but that is only when i have a clear head and no stress in my life, this is related to being able to have a lucid dream i believe but i remember the 1st time i realized i was in a dream and it was alwsome i havnt not tried anything crazy but i have on occasion been able to control where i go and what i do but for those that are able to lucid dream i want you to try to do a date or past time period and see what your mind has to say about that, 1 lucid dream was weird thou, it was a dream that i have had at least 3 times before and this one time i realized it and stoped and changed the dream completly and it was awsome has anyone heard of the device that allows you to lucid dream when you use it during sleep every time?

    Hmm... listen to this...

"I can occasionally do the lucid dream thing but that is only when i have a clear head and no stress in my life"

"i have no power over my surroundings."

The paradox is, if you say to your subconscious mind that something is impossible, then sure it will become impossible! Lucid dreaming is possible, anytime, anywhere, and you can do -anything- you want. If only you believe it. That's all you need. :)

i never knew that was what lucid dreaming meant...

if thats the case then i guess ive been lucid dreaming ever since i was a little girl. it always kinda creeped me out. i would be halfway through a dream and would stop and think...wait, this isnt real, im dreaming. and from then on i could control what was happening in that dream. havent has one of those in awhile...in fact i havent had a dream in awhile.

I woke up standing on the top of a burned and broken tall tree. I was scared. Lost my balance and was falling straightway to the ground. The "encouraging me" said "just try and fly".. I cocked my head back and spread my arms and swooped skyward...then I landed in another brokened burned tree. I wasn't scared anymore

And this thread is already doing good to my dreams! Had a lucid dream yesterday. It's because it's the magic lucid thread ^_^ and will bring lucid dreams to whoever reads it.

Funny cuz, I often have lucid dreams in which the people in my dream try to convince me that I am NOT dreaming... its so weird.

One dream in particular, when I realized I was dreaming, I thought "cool" and flashed my hand to make it ignite in fire, shook the fire off.

[I practiced lucid dreaming, so I became very good at it, and I could do lots of cool things in my dreams]

Anyway, my fiancee was standing in front of me when I did this, in the dream, and was freaking out --- I said "Calm down, it's only a dream!" And he kept trying to convince me that it was not.

    It was crazy.

And just in case some of you didn't know, lucid dreaming can in fact become a skill and an art. There are ways to get yourself to lucid dream, by the things you do in your waking life, as well as there are ways to wake up from a lucid dream, say if it's a nightmarish one.

I did a report on this in psychology.

When I practiced lucid dreaming, I would ask myself like ten times a day if I was dreaming, or awake. I questioned my conciousness, therefore it led me to question my conciousness when I was asleep.

When I had a nightmare, and realized that it was only a dream, but couldn't seem to wake up or get out of the nightmare, doing a cartwheel or somersault in my dream woke me up and got me out of the nightmare.
