Hello, i have some plants that have grown a white mould. Right now i have 4 indoor plants in a room thats 3' x 6',and the the room is in my basement. Recently i have noticed that they have some white mould on the leaves and near the floor of the room. I have never had a mould problem befor, because this is my first indoor crop. As to howthe mould got there, i speculated that when we misted the plants, too much moisture got onto the floor and it started to devolope from there. Normally my light would make the water evaporate, but i guess i misted them a wee bit too much. Is there any ways to remove the mould from the plants and not ruin my harvest?, his harvest is pretty important, and i need things to work out. I have a 500w light and a few fans for air circulation and whatnot. Any help would be much apreciated.Thanx in advance.
well dude im sorry to hear there is mold on the leaves . I need to know a little more info.. do you have rug on the floor? is there poly on the walls? or mylar? which fert did you spray it with? ... i think its best to water the plants by putting the water in the soil.. not directly on the plant with a spray bottle.. but its all personal choice man. try to flush out the plant a bit.. lay off the nutrients for a week or so.. see if it stops the mold. also make sure there is no rug on the floor.. carpet causes mold man, take it out or cover it up with black and white polyester, it works great. hope i can help. keep me updated.
well, at the moment we have no nuetrients being put with the plants, The floor is covered with garbage bags, and b4 we put the room together, w2e bleached the area good. the walls are drywall, but not painted. as far as th misting goes, we have stoped and it will not cintinue due to the plants being too far into the flowering time. my baserment is usually pretty moist, but we put the light in causing all moisture to evaporate. usually the room is pretty dry. and the mould that is alreadt on the plants, should i try to scrape(gently) off th mould, or should i just take all the infected ares of the plant and cut them off. obviously if i am stayting in this area, i will re-bleach the are a few times to get rid of the mould prob;lem. thanks for the quick reply. if there is anything else that would help m out, th i would much apreciate it.
Four capfuls of peroxide to every quart of water, put in spray bottle and sprintz the leaves. Works for cacti at least.
alright, ill give the spray a try, now i was just thinking, should i maby re-pot the plants just incase the sol was infected? and if i do, could i just re use the pots, but bleech them first?
Ok, theres a new problem now. i just took a lok at them again, and in the soil of one of the plants theres ayellow and orange mould growing in the soil. the white mould has spread and now is on almost all the leaves. will the peroxide kill all the mould, including the new stuff, i supose that i should re-pot that plant, and major clean the room?
I think it maybe due to the fact their isnt enough ventilation in your room....humidity+damp soil=moldy shit.....ventilation+damp soil=happy plant.
Maybee get a dehumidifier and make sure you have good air circulation i.e extractor fan and oscillating fan. I can't see the soil being 'infected'.
sounds like on the leaves could be powdery mildew. baking soda is a method of dealing with that. sulphur burners are the best. regardless of what you do be sure that you don't leave a bunch of residue on the plants.
nice, ill check that stuff out.we re-lined the room with new bags on the walls and whatnot, and sprayed the plants with hydrogen peroxide, and it seems to have cleared up some, although if you look carefully, you can see it some places, in little concentrations.as of the sulpherburns, how do you creat sulpherburns?thanx for all the help guys.
Hey buff hows it going, if 89 can't aford a fan probly won't be able to buy dehum either. 89, I can't imagine how peroxide would change the chemical properties of and on the plants, but doesn't sound like a good mix! The rule of thumb is ISO or BHO extration there are several threads on how to here. Any other method would mean inbibing mold spores never a good idea.
You absolutely need intake and exhaust fans, installed, in-wall. If you can't get them you will keep having thje same problems. And feed your plants. Starving plants don't do well.
