Dear Old hippies, The time has come for the new generation of peaceloving people to rise up and do something, cos the whole world gets fucked up the way we are going now. It is nice to know that there are lots of people who want to go back to the good old days when the hippy movement was hugh, but just the thinking about it won't get us anywhere... We should get back on the streets, to let everybody know that there are still lots of people who don't want to live under the suppresion of the system, and who feel that there are other ways to deal with terrorism besides killing the people in the middle-east. It is time that the love takes over the world once again, and finishes the job started in the sixties. there is a lot more wrong right now than there used to be in the sixties, and now you don't see anyone protesting, or speaking up for what they believe in. we should unite again and make Love take over the Power that is now in the possesion of George W. Bush and lots of other lying, hypocritical, killing people that are in control of our world nowadays and do anything for power. But this generation can't do it by itself, we need your help, help from the people who have been here before, from the people who know what it's like, and most importantly, from someone who can unite all the people who still believe, so we can make a difference again... Love and Peace to all of you believers that are still out there... Slick (I also posted this on a forum at the young hippy section, but as said before, we need your help) (Reactions are welcome, both on the forum as well as personal)
I am 52 years young, and grew up in a "hippie" syle lifestyle.I was @ ORIGINAL Woodstock, as well as MANY "peace protests", as well as "be ins",(or love ins). There were concerts galore, and CONTRARY to what the poster may think,,I believe they were MORE problems TEHN,and NO im no Bush fan nor do I condone ANYTHING he says or does really. I simply wanted to point out, that MANY things we protested about back then are NOW NON ISsUES. Politics as NOW was a biggy,,and yea,,we have our troops dying in Iraq NOW, but (and none of these people should have died),therer were over 50,000 dead then, compared to 900 now? id say that is nOT nearly as bad, and to boot we were FORCED into killing even tho not many believed in htis killing,,in Vietnam! In Iraq,,I THINK it was a volunteer army,no? corect me if im in error. Anyhow, to compare these WARS at least,,it was AFR worse then than now. But I say we should have learned THEN (and i feel most did, but this is a different generation), nOT to make wars,,esp the type Vietnam AND Iraq are/were,, yet it DID repeat itself,, demonstarted by Bush untruths and the war itself,, beyond that,,we had FAR worse racism,,I mean BAD racism,,I went to Fla when I was 14 and couldnt believe seeing "colored bathrooms, drinking fountains ect..and that deosnt touch the biggotry that WAS aboud in the mid 60s. Damn,,it WAS BAD people,, cops busting you for "having long hair"?? Being busted cuz one had black skin? This for the most part has toned WAY down in recent decades! I HAD thought the only real lying was Clintons lewinski thing,,but BUSH's WAR MArch lies,,ahve reminded me,,that history sometimes DOES repeat itself.. yes 60s were FUN for some things,,BUT WOSRE for a LOT of other things!
Some noble thoughts and a good start, I think. Perhaps though I’ve seen more of the protesting than you have, especially on the web. There’s a hopelessness that seems to have turned a good deal of the dissatisfaction into something very black and I for one appreciate the lighter sentiments about love. The whole idea about pushing or allowing people to choose their better ‘selves’ seems to have become completely lost.
