I'm thinking about doing it this summer or the next. I need to get enough money together to go though because I want to visit people in England and Switzerland first, as well as train around the rest of Spain.

That's the plan, hopefully. I've always wanted to go to Spain because I've studied Spanish for 7 years but never actually been to a Spanish speaking country. Also, I have some good friends who live in England that have been wanting me to come out there for almost 5 years. I need to get around to it. :p My favorite teacher moved to Switzerland to teach at a boarding school there so I have to go visit there as well to practice my abismal French.

i´ve "pretty much" been along the camino del norte of the pilgrimage to santiago de compostela. during las carnavales a couple of years ago, i rented a car with some friends from taiwan and drove along the north coast of spain. started from Valladolid (traveled northeast to)->San Sebastián, then made stops in pretty much every major city as we headed west- and then some - for five days: San sebastian, santander, guijón, cudillero, oviedo, La Coruña, Santiago de Compostela (there are probably more, i forget)
check this out for a pic. of the beautiful cudillero:

anyways, i wasnt planning on doing the pilgrimage at all, we just happened to travel along one of the routes of the camino.

by the way, i just did my capstone project (final, big project to finish off your college career) on El camino de Santiago, so if you´d like to know more about it, i could definitely help. I also did another paper on the same subject for a different class (early christianity) - the difference between the two are that one is in spanish and one is in english. let me know if you´d like to read them...

oh, and santiago de compostela is a freakin´ beautiful city. Galicia rocks in every way, in my opinion.
