I was told that if you ask an undercover cop, they are not legally permitted to lie about being a cop that's bullshit, right? and if on the off-chance he was right and it is actually true, is it true in all states?
Well they can be around the bush and they do not have to tell you but they are not allowed to tell you they are not a "law enforcement officer or federal agent" when asked directly. When I lived out by the reservation and the locals out on it sold awesome fireworks that were not open to the public to see, they would always ask ya if your a cop or a fed.
After seeing some of what a police officer will conceal and plant to achieve "winning the game" I would need a quarter and let the dude call heads or tails.
well, the whole thing that brought this up in my mind, is that when I was watching Cops, they did a hooker sting thing, and when the dude asked her if she was a cop, she said no
If they are undercover they do not have to tell you. Furthermore if anyone for their shit knows anything, you know what this question is stupid and pointless to ask. You're in that situation, turn the radio up full blast, make them lose their shirt and pat them down. Sure some people say I'm a little unorthadox to be suspect of my peers wearing wires but god damnit, I never got caught from stupid shit.
all cops shoulld be plain clothes (love beads, tie die and bells preferably) and ware wires at all times. of course they must also carry proof of authority and show it to make any legitimate arrest (but need not do so other then to verify their authority, when and only when it is neccessary that they do so). preferably with at least one other officer must also be present. not to cover each other's assess but to insure that both fallow a proceedure that has itself been approved by due proccess. if you don't like the law, don't break it, chainge it, that's what democratic proccess is for. if it doesn't work (as it is in deed not working under the unresponsive and irresponsible oligarcy of corporate mafia that pretends to be democratic) you don't really have it. of course if a cop breaks the law, unless it is clearly and unambiguously neccessary in the performance of his or her duties, they must be held to the same standard as everyone else if not higher. if the laws themselves are such that they cannot be trusted (as is indeed often the case in 'the land of the (pseudo)free', then they very much indeed need to be chainged to where they can be. today's reality is indeed completely out of hand, putting both the law abiding public and themselves at risk. =^^= .../\...
Undercover cops don't have to say or not say anything, I have personally heard them say they are infact not cops when they most certainly were. Of course in these incidents it was pretty much known they were cops and the questions were just used as intimidation or picking? so to speak. They may have all this crap people tell you they have to say or not say but when it really gets down to it, cops can do whatever the fuck they want to. It's one of the many liberties of living in the US. The corrupt are badged and paid to protect and serve the rich.
So much for the safety back in the day for the guys out on the reservation when I was younger, check this out: http://www.erowid.org/freedom/police/police_info6.shtml
Police officers are free to lie about being police officers. As I understand it, the only time they have to say they are cops is if they are actually arresting you. Generally they also will identify themselves if they are giving you an order (freeze, etc...) otherwise you are not obligated to follow their order.

A couple years back a there was a drug bust at my high school. Apparently there were like five undercops at the school. I'm lucky that I didn't get busted
It's a myth, Entrapment will rarely work as a defense unless they coerced you into buying something. I never was one to buy from someone I didn't already know. I don't buy anything now anyway, so...
