I'm a big fan of Sam Peckinpah, especially movies like "Junior Bonner" and "Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid". The latter is an early 70s counter-culture classic. Remember Billy, arms outstretched like Christ, surrendering to Garrett and the deputies? Billy: Looks like you're keeping bad company Pat. Garrett: I'm still alive. Billy: So am I. Peckinpah and scriptwriter Rudy Wurlitzer understood what it meant to be outside the system better than anybody before or since, in my humble opinion.
