I'm currently using a combination of oral diflucan (for me) and topical gentian violet (both on my nipples and in Meriel's mouth).... hoping this does the trick. :(

You don't need a scrip for genetian violet.

But if her thrush is nystatin resistent, she should be given something stronger, I think.

ALso, try giving her acidophilus. You can buy baby acidophilus, or just buy capsules and open them up, and lick your finger and dip it into the powder and let her suck it off you finger. Don't eat any sugar, if you can avoid it.

I got a bottle of gentian violet at Kmart pharmacy for $1.48. You do have to ask the pharmacist for it, but it does not require a prescription. It will stain everything dark purple for a while, but so far, it's the only thing that has really helped this thrush of ours, and I've tried absolutely every treatment/remedy I've ever heard of before.

If the nystatin isn't working, you may be dealing with a resistant strain of yeast, and should try something else. Acidophilus/probiotics is a good idea, too. But also look at what might be causing it in the first place.

I do eat sugar every day. maybe that's it. but we went to the doc this morning and they purpled her all up. and now she's fallen fast asleep for awhile. don't know if the two are connected, but I hope the stuff works! I'm unusualy confident in it, though, so maybe.
