Have any of y'all ever taken an electrical appliance that needed to be plugged in with a transformer? I will be on a houseboat and have 2 appliances I will be using in hopes they will work with the transformer I bought. I read somewhere about 50 or 60 Hz and that if it doesn't say 50/60 on the appliance and only says 60 Hz, it could burn up the appliance. I have a nebulizer (breathing machine- I have asthma) that says 60 Hz and now I'm afraid to bring it. Don't want to burn it up or hurt the houseboats electricity. I left it last time I went and just used my inhaler, but thought I should have brought it so I planned to this time. Anyone know anything about this stuff? Peace, islandgurl
ok, first the 50-60 hertz has nothing to do with the voltage.thats how many cycles per second the current is running at,here in the states we have 110-220 all 60 hertz, so really all you need to know is what hertz europe runs. either way it wont matter much on short term use. voltage an amperage should be considered when buying a transformer. to find amps divide watts by volts, which in europe is 220.or to find amps divide watts by volts.
You'll be fine islandgirl, forget all the numbers being thrown around, just make sure you have an adapter (with your transformer) that fits into their wall sockets. your nebulizer will work fine. you remind me of the travelocity gnome plugging in an american appliance, getting shocked and saying "am I dead"...LOL. Where is the houseboat your renting? I've been renting houseboats for years and once you do that there's no going back to a hotel or apartment. They are so relaxing and fun and you won't feel cramped up like you do in hotels and such. To become an official pig you must first meet us during queens day....our official holiday and meet. It's in the piggy manifesto.........chapter 1, page 5, paragraph 2.....LOL Have a great time this september. Hope to meet you in 9 months.....GO PIGS!!!
LOL Mopper I just got back... It worked with the transformer and I left a nice vacuum sealer present for my friend I didn't rent a boat but they're VERY nice!! I have a friend who has one so my stay was free this time. It's GREAT getting to know a local and have them as a friend *~wink~* I, in turn, invited them to stay in my home when they come to the U.S. It was GREAT. Had rides everywhere and got to go to MANY other coffeeshops I missed last time. I loved Katsu and the Black Widow I got there (budtender said it was "the shit" right now lol she was an adorable young Aruban girl VERY sweet), Bushdoctor I and II, Bluebird, Rusland (plus others) and this time my favorite place to hang out was Dutch Flowers outside. I don't usually drink but I even had a glass of white wine and ENJOYED it! The weather was so beautiful! Bluebird had AWESOME Blue Cheese weed. Oh man is it gooooooooood and it didn't look like it would be. Even the budtender said "I know it doesn't look very good but it IS"... that girl was right! I also found a wonderful little treasure in Willie Nelson from Barney's... another awesome one! The smell and taste are so unique, not to mention the strength! I actually smoked more good stuff than I did last time, if that's possible lol Sure hope to be there on queensday!!!!!! I'm working towards it Seems like FOREVER away though lol I want to go back next month! If I had more time and money, this girl would be going to the dam once a month. I LOVE walking the canals and the open air markets as well. OH MAN I found some of the best cookies ever called almandelbrood. They're thin, crispy almond cookies with the BEST flavor mmmmmmmm I love the food over there. Okay, I love the weed more
