when you starve yourself, your body will retain everything you eat in a self-preservation mode. From some of your other posts, I think you should be seeing a therapist about your self-image and self-esteem issues. You have no reason to want to change how you look. You are beautiful already!!

well she didnt say she was starving herself, she said that she just cut down on what she was eating. also, with the whole excercising thing, it takes a while to loose weight, it just isnt going to fall off really fast. if you really think that you need to shed some pounds just keep at what you're doing and have patience. i hope that helps a little bit :)

yeh, and in another thread she said she takes laxatives daily... :& In all of her posts, she seems obsessed about her body image, which isn't bad in the first place.

ohhh. my apologies then. i wasnt aware of all the other postings....next time i wont count my chickens before they hatch :p in that case, if she does post a lot about how self-concious she is toward her body, then she should seek some guidance

Yeah, honey, judging by your other posts my only advise is to talk to someone professional- your diet and mindset seems to be a serious problem. Your body tries everything it can to maintain its healthy weight, from fat stores to slowing the metabolism down etc etc. It's a dangerous game, and no matter how skinny you get you *won't* end up happy, that's a promise! You'll die before you're satisfied. Please be careful *hugs*

Don't go to portion control/ laxatives. Laxitives eventually will worsen the problem. Also, you can die from laxatives on an empty stomach.
Eat WHOLE foods like whole wheat bread versus white bread. Healthy, healthy. Whole foods work with your body (like the Kashi commercial :D ) & will return you to a good, healthy weight. Remember good self image as well. If you keep thinking "God, I look so bad" all the time, then you're going to stress yourself out over it & stress either means weight gain or weight loss & from what you're saying you're not the type to lose weight all easy-like.
    Remember what counts. :)

obviously the diet coke, and the way the body metabolizes sugars. once you ingest that very simple sugar in the coke, any more complex sugar you take in that day will be stored as fat, as your body has adjusted to the high fructoce lite sugars.

I remember in another thread you said you drink a lot of Diet Coke, which would make sense considering your screen name.

Are you still drinking diet coke?

Drinking large (or even moderate) amounts of Diet Coke, which contains aspartame (a neurotoxin), is attributed to metabolic syndrome, which could be your problem. That is why you see so many fat people drinking diet soda, which, contrary to what many people believe, does not help one to lose weight in the least. Aspartame is also addictive, which is why you see so many people who constantly have a diet soda in their hand morning, noon and night. It also makes people crave carbohydrates and sweet, high calorie foods. Aspartame is also attributed to brain tumors and other forms of neurological disorders. It is poison to the body. Period. It is made up of aspartic acid, phenyalinine, and methyl (wood) alcohol.

My advice is to lay off the diet soda. Lay off soda altogether. It is garbage. Just doing away with drinking soda will improve your health by leaps and bounds.

Water and only water is what you should be drinking.

whatever you think about your body - is probably correct.

maybe you should take it to the MAAAXX and drink more diet coke and do more exercise, i'm interested in what toll this will take on the body. try and keep some sort of journal of what you're eating and what sort of regimen you're setting yourself eg when you get dizzy or carted off to hospital.

Attention? The only reason i come on this hippy site is to keep things away from my everyday life! If I wanted attention, then I wouldnt be online. Jester, you dont always know everything so please stop making assumptions.

An eating disorder is a disease, and is not something people do just for attention Jester.

I too have suffered from one for several years, and trust me attention is the last thing I want.

DietCokeTree, I'm sorry you have this disease too. I hope you can start to feel better about yourself sweetie.;)

Agreed on all counts. People don't do this for attention, it's really serious and if it's treated as if it's an attention-getting, shallow thing then the person suffering is only going to feel worse about themselves. I know how you feel (quite a number of people do) and I really hope you can feel better- you deserve it.

i have once read that a deficiency is responsible for eating disorders )bullimia for example.
    take some zinc
    multi vitamin b
    no soft drink, fast food,sweets
    no alcohol,tobacco
    take some multi minerals
drink spring water not "fluoridated" water
    eat some tahini
    eat some apples

People eat food for both mental and physical reasons. The mental reason is to feel happy. Some people think being skinny will bring them happiness cuz attention from others will be favorable. I can see how jester associates some peoples reasoning to not eat enough to the idea it will make them happy when they get favorable attention.
My experience is that people who put down fat people have a mental problem I call terminal sarcasm. No matter if you remain fat or not, the sarcastic people in the world are going to find a reason to be sarcastic about anybody they choose. Frankly it is a waste of time to criticize others, when chances are there are things about yourself that could be eliminated if you took the time to critically look inward. The message is really to keep a positive outlook most of the time and once in a while look at yourself with a positive attitude that you can change some details within.

    peace

    Listen to this person! =)
And what you think about yourself is what matters, try to focus on positive things about your body, try to work towards a positive body image because that is so important. I know its not that easy.. I don't know what your deal is or anything but from what I'm reading a positive body image might be important for you.

    Hey
I just want to tell you that I understand. I have been "recovering" for about a year and a half now. There are 2 really important things I want you to realize. While it's healthy to care about your appearance, it shouldn't be the most important thing. Fight feeling the "need" for it to be. When how you look is most important, that is what other's focus on and they may miss the best things about you. Not to mention, your eating disorder will make you miserable. The second thing, is KNOW that your eating disorder is not a "body" disorder, but a mind disorder that manifests itself through your body. What you see, is most likely, NOT what you really are. Please take care of yourself, and stay in touch. Let me know if you'd like to talk about anything.
