To me, science can only go so far, then comes God. It's alot easier to just snap your fingers and say it's wrong than putting faith into it being right, but if you do, either way, someone is going to end up putting you down for it. You've got the cold, self-centered atheists that are often rude towards any concept of spirituality at all and you've got the Muslims, Jews, conservative Christians, and what have you that can also be pretty cold towards Atheists, theirselves. The thing is, when you look at your flags of every country, constitutions, rights, and systems of organization, the fact is, it really isn't possibly for you to be a true Atheist, since, even if you try to regulate yourself and think of yourself as your own God, you're going to be persecuted by a higher authority when you commit a wrongdoing, courtroom, heavens, hell, or wherever. Not only that, but the jealousy of others that do not have faith towards ones who do often astounds me. Sometimes people forget or don't care to give it a chance. It's nice to know there's something that you can't even contemplate that actually cares enough to give you a second chance when you need it or make it up somehow, especially to yourself. If I lived without that, I'd probably dig and bury myself in a hole at some point and accumulate more dirt until my spirits suffocate. I have a hard time believing that the world will be as peaceful as it is now, even with Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Iraq, the US, the Koreas, China, and everyone at each other's throats as we speak, in a good 100-200 years. When I was a youngin, I never thought I'd see such swine at the helms of the existance of mankind... You have to remember that evil lurks within every barcode, social security number, and politician you see. Is that all we've come to--pimples on the ass of society? We've become mere numbers in a history of four billion years. That's all we are, isn't it? We're just numbers crunched by the accountants of time. Oh, but I don't forget what religious texts and my own logic say(s), I'm sure everyone will agree with me that you can't do a thing anymore without being eyeballed by anyone through cameras or ID numbers, what makes one think there isn't an omniscient being? My opinion is the story has already been written, there's nothing you or I can do to change it, and for all you know you only have 1/100th of the entire story and it's not even contemplatable with the mental capacity we have. People have a hard enough time trying to say what they mean and mean what you say without doing something wrong or screwing something up and making severe contradictions... even speaking in a complete sentence for that matter and speaking your own language. What makes anyone think any single person on this planet has the ability to conceive such an understanding of religion or spirituality? Believe what you wish, though it doesn't matter where I stand. It's what it translates into for you.
I'm not going to weigh into this debate except to post this website: http://www.godlessbastard.com/ And to point out that "spirituality" and religion are not the same thing. One can be completely devoid of spirituality yet be profoundly religious. Just an opinion. P.S. The views expressed on this website are not my own. I found this a few days ago and it seems like its relevant to this specific thread. The website I posted will be extremely offensive to anyone with even slightly religious leanings. You have been warned.
Agreed. God is a concept and essence. 4) The being creates a stone, then forgoes some of its omnipotence to attempt to lift it (and it then fails at the lifting). It is a cop out answer But seriously, if anyone has NEVER heard this question before, you need to get out more.
thats not proof.... and i think you stole that from the simpsons when homer asks flanders "could god microwave a burrito so hot, that he, himself could not eat it?" dont waste peoples time with crap...sorry...
And are you comparing yourself to god? You're just a kid. Gods supposedly omnipotent. If he could create something that was greater then he was, he would not be omnipotent. Of course, if it took him a certain amount of time to create the world, and needed to take a break afterwords, he would already be proven not to be omnipotent, which is what I said in the first place.
