    Hey guys,
I'm going away to Germany for a year-long exchange trip in three weeks, but I'm having trouble raising spending money. I used to have a job, but quit it due to the fact that my boss was verbally abusive. I work now once every other week playing the piano at a fancy restaurant, but that still isn't sufficient money.

My question is- do you guys know any good ways for me to quickly get some money (aside from prostitution and drug-dealing, that is [IMG])? Do you know of any organizations (Kiwanis, Lions Club, etc.) that I could write to asking for donations, or any companies that would be willing to donate? My parents can't support me on this (divorce, messed up money issues with my family right now), so I'm just trying to find ways to get the money myself (We don't qualify for any type of financial aid.).

    Any ideas?

Cut all your toes off and sell them on the black market.

When I was going to Australia, I did work for the Idaho Food Bank where I stood out in front of the grocery store and asked for donations of food. I put a box for donations for my trip too.. i ended up getting like.. 100 bucks in one day. If you have anything like that where you live, you could try it. You have to be outgoing and stop people as they go in though.
And the cleaner you look, the better, probably :p

Ok I am the key club Lt. Gov

thats with the kiwanis Im majorly suprised that you even know who they are they will give you money but there is a catch.
Are you a member of key club or Circle K International
If not can you join and gain up the ranks quikly
If not than they are out but we have our kiwanis sponsor a girl to europe and they paid for 2/3 of the trip.
You need to go to the meetings and just hang out with them they will love thatn and my pay for the whole thing just depends on if they like you

Maybe offer piano lessons/tutoring to the kids in your area? If you're a member of a music ensemble in school, it may help with credibiliy (I'm a member of Tri-M @ my school, and the advisor distributes lists of possible instrument/voice teachers to the students in the elementary/middle schools). As the school year starts, the need for tutors for younger kids is going to increase; a reasonable rate is $10 an hour. Over the course of the year, you'd make a few hundred dollars. Recycling bottles and cans is always good for a few dollars, especially if you know people who have parties often and don't like to bother with recycling. Good luck, and have fun on your trip!!

Oh, that was my quick way of telling a long story. My old boss was just a plain old asshole. I think I had some topic on it when I got fired. Pretty much what happened was I walked into work 30 minutes early, and I had my hair down. My boss turned around and said "Dylan, your hair looks like hell! Put it up!" Which pissed me off, so I said "I'll put it up, but you can't talk to me like that." And then he fired me. Aside from taht, he would yell at me randomly for no reason, so yeah. Whatev.

And, where was it that you worked with this 'verbally abusive' boss?

Dude thats what I said- I've been TRYING to get a job man. I've applied to places, and I've been called back by them, but every time it is THEM who has dropped out on me. For example, yesterday I was supposed ot be trained at my town's diner, and when I went in to get trained, they forogt I was coming and couldn't train me at the time. so they told me ot come back "next week." Its so annoying.

"Next week" is better than "Leave and don't come back".
I sure hope you don't have a problem wearing your hair up at a diner. I know if I walked into a food place and saw someone with hair hanging down in my food, I'd leave.

I think if you work in a food establishment hairnets should be a PRIORTIY no matter how much or how little hair you do have.
When I worked in the freezer of a bakery just doing STOCK....touching no food at all, just freight boxes, I had to wear a hairnet.

okay guys. I feel liek I need to provide so much information to you guys.

I always DID wear my hair up, and I do agree that it's necesarry to be up so taht it doesnt get in food. But I was early for work, and I was WALKING in the door. I was gonna put it up -I cant scoop ice cream with my hair blocking my vision! haha
That was why it was so ridiculous- I always put my hair up, and my boss knew it, but he felt like provoking me.

second off, no, my family CANT afford to pay for me. I won a FULL SCHOLARShip, meaning that I'm not paying for the excahnge trip. We havent gone on any vacations this summer, the only vacation I went on was the one that I paid for me and my mom to go on (back in the spring). No, I don't buy clothes, why would I buy a lot of clothes, I dont need them? I already have clothes, so I'm not out buying that. My parents are divorced and money is screwed up right now with my family. The onyl reason I would have been going on the trip was if 1.) I paid the entire tuition for the trip, or 2.) I won a scholarship for it. And I won a scholarship.

Sheesh, nevermind. I have to explain too much to you guys, or else you make me out to be a "fag" or a "pussy." All I wanted to know were good fundraising tips, and places that give donations like Kiwanis Club International, and instead I'm pestered with a billion questions about why I dont have the money and why I dont actualyl put my hair up etc.etc. I didnt think that it was necessary, but you guys are discontent and take it out on other people.
