My dragon claws go scritchy - scratch
Hooray for me, about to hatch
Just one push and I am free
    "Hoorah hoorah hooray" says me
I've longed to see this world outside
And hear the sound of crashing tide
To view a world so full of love
And join the dragon skies above
A world of sound so new and bold
    My curiosity will barely hold

So here, out of the egg am I
Feeling as though I could fly
Sprawled amid the shards I've risen
    From within the ghostly prison
This nest I'm in, so big and deep
I'll explore it now, no time to sleep
"Peep peep" says I, eyes big and wide
As I look down over the side
I see a world so big and tall
It makes me feel so very small

But it's vastness does not frighten me
Just all the more fun there is to be
I'll romp and play and jump about
As soon as this nest I get out
But for now I'm hungry, tired
Against me has my fate conspired?
My tummy seems to growleth so
For food, a leaf, a cheerio!
Then to my joy and glee
My mother comes, with food I see

She brings apples, bread and cheese galore
My mother brings them all and more
I heard her voice from within the egg
Where all I could see was my leg
Now I see her, feel her, smell her too
And she brings my brother and sisters new
Playing with them will be so fun
I want to meet them, every one
First we play, then we eat
Now we all lay down to sleep

    All together, under wing
    Mothers are great for snuggling
    Sleepy, snoozy hear us snore
A great first day, a thirst for more
Dreaming of the stars so bright
I'll fly with them in mind tonight
Like fires dancing off and on
The sun rises and brings the dawn
And lights the sky with red and blue
    It brings another day anew

Danger! Danger! A threat is here!
A bigger dragon to harm us dear!
Breath of fire! Claws of steel!
    Shattering the dreams so real
A dragon and our mother battle
Leaves us alone, like long lost cattle
    Thunderstorms and fires outside
The cave in which we all reside
Huddle close I'll protect you all
My siblings, though I may be small

My heart is big, my courage too
Let's hope this is enough for you
Then lightning strikes and all is quiet
A shape falls down, rain by and by it
Who could it be, Mother or thee -
Oh villain soul, our eyes do see?
The other shape flies over close
The rain distorts it like a ghost
And as the looming shape comes near
We've drawn our lastest breath, we fear

The shadow figure enters the cave
A place that may soon be our grave
I stand up tall and give a mighty roar
Stopping the shape within the door
Time seems to low down as it stares
And us at it, my fangs I bares
The only sound to be heard is breath
The smell of blood, intermingled death
And the dragon says as she turns my way
"I'm proud my hatchling, I must say"

That loving voice so gentle, kind
Brings peace and love to our hatchling mind
To know our mother will give us care
The peace of mind knowing she'll be there
We huddle up, back to sleep
Each giving our own content "peep"
Reassemble our dreams, reinstate the stars
No nightmares haunt, for mother is ours
And so we dream our dreams so deep
The night is ripe with fruits of sleep

We live on to fight another day
We live to love and love to play
The coming dawn so soft and pure
    Such innocence, again so sure
From this first day, and this first night,
The stars of mind and eyes alight
With wisdom gained and wisdom earned
A lesson we have all well learned
If we must die, and we must fight,
Then we'll die and fight for what is right

Since then we've grown up strong and well
    Amassing more stories to tell
A thousand more fights we endure
But we grow stronger, our hearts more pure
And so ends this epic Dragon Tale
A story we live and sometimes fail
We must be strong, we must be brave
For sometimes ourselves we must save
Now into the twilight sky I soar
I am Draco, hear me roar
