I paid 50 cents for a mint Imagine album, and 1 dollar for Double fantasy. Whats the best deal you've ever gotten for a great album?
Well, I paid 3€ each for Led Zeppelin: Houses of The Hoyle and Deep Purple: In Rock. But then again, those are the only two vinyl records I own.
Assuming freebies don't count, my best deal was a Jimi Hendrix greatest hits for a buck, and I got some great 50 cent ones, too that I can't remember right now.
50p for Dark Side of the Moon, which started my long and enjoyable love affair with Pink Floyd. Also, my mum let me have all of her Steeleye Span albums for nothing.
Ok, if we're not counting freebies, then my best deal would probably be when I got The Beatles' Meet the Beatles original LP for a dollar, or the time that I got The Beatles greatest hits vol 2 (the blue one) for a dollar, AND, I didn't know it when I bought it, but stuck beside one of the vol 2 LPs was a vol 1 LP! I also got The Who's Tommy double-LP for $2 once.
i once got an armload of records for $10. there was some good shit in there like Zeppelin, The Who, 13th Floor Elevators, and a bunch of not so good/valuable ones.
yeah, the guy was moving out of his house going to be travelling around in an RV, so he was downsizing. we just sat there while collected my armload and talked about music and all of the "golden oldies". he said he had like 5 copies of each 13th floor elevators albums, and prefered to sell it to someone who would actually listen to it and enjoy it, not just some collector.
i got The Psychedelic Sound of the 13th Floor Elevators. i would have gotten more, but thats the only one he had left. that worked out though, cause its my favorite album.
I got more then i coudl carry and just had to help clean on the place i even got the blind faith albem with the girl on the front, if you guys had herd aobut that or not, i know it had caused a bit of controversy back in the day, or so i was told
my first good deal was Simon & Garfunkel "The Graduate" for 5€ instead of 50€ they want in the stores. second was Sweet Smoke "Just a Poke" for 6€. It's very very rare.
well, one time I got 2 big crates of like 100 records for free, some people from down the street were throwing them away, some of them I never heard of, but there was a lot of good stuff there too...and my mom gave me some old ones she had in the basement...(to bad I still didn't get a record player yet, hopefully I'll get one soon )
I was at a rummage sale these gay guys where having becuase they broke up (I talked to them for awhile) and they had 3 crates of album that they have me for $3. Some WONDERFUL shit in there... Was a varied find, too. There was a recording of hte Nutcraker, and the best find of the night for me was Jefferson Starship's "Red Octopus." They where all in really great shape, too. There was some David Bowie, too, I seem to remember, but since they're all in my endless stacks of vinyls I've lost track of which ones I got that night...
