For some, being a hippie is a state of mind, an attitude, and a way of life. For others, It's just a fashion statement and/or the era of good music. The media portrayed hippies as dirty, lazy, drugged-out freeloaders with radical ideas. Hippies did not want a conformist lifestyle, a materialistic society, a life spent "living to work" instead of working to live~ mostly hippies want FREEDOM! freedom of expression thru music, art, their clothes and they way they live (and as Molly says~free sex is nice too). Hippies want peace, respect, & love.
a hippy is a person that is open minded, non-judgemental, and someone who cares about the world and is trying to make it a better place. some do it through protests, some through enviornmentalist stufff. but must be active in your world and want change. thats what a hippy is, a revolutionary. someone who wants change for the better. not change for power or money. but for the common good and freedom of all people. also all that being yourself and creative original personality stuff. a person is a hippy because of who theya re inside, not who they are outside.
is it your personal style or musical taste? yes is it spiritual or phylosophical ideas? yes political or evironmental viewpoint? yes interest in drugs or disinterest in hygene? usually or a basically laid back attitude or zest for life? yes
you must listen to ALOT of music from the 60s(not your entire music collection but a good portion of it) you must be very open minded to new ideas and be adccepting of others you must dress like a hippie, but that is secondary to the two things above. Wait does that make me a hippie? No never mind then. I don't know. I'm not a hippie.
Onlyone speaks the truth, in my case anyway, I was raised a hippie, only I didnt know it had a name, and I didnt know that other people were different untill I got older.
