WELL, it is a common paradox known as the omnipotence paradox that has been around for ages. The simpsons merely mocks stoners by posing such a question in the referenced episode.

To suggest that poeple stole things from the simpsons is usually pretty funny because the simpsons does shamless stealing all of the time that most pople don't know. (for example, the song smithers sings to mr. burns at the rtirement party is from Citizen Kane)...

Well, in the first place, if God were an omnipotent being...then he wouldn't really be a being with the same physical limitations as man. Yes, man was made in the likeness of God, but just the likeness. Doesn't mean when you look at a guy with long curly hair and a beard that that's what God is. An omnipotence isn't something you can pinpoint. It's not tangible.

And, anyways...God only exists in the mind. And you can't prove or disprove that.

 

If God is only in the mind ...

Than there must be over 6 billion little Gods all around this planet!

There is a pretty big difference between intellectual theft and parody.

 

Arguments over god are ridiculous anyway.

Atheists need to learn that proof of god, St. Augustine be damned, defeats the entire of concept of faith.

On the other hand, Religious folks need to remember that in terms of pure rationality they're hovering somewhere between my pet dog and the average california chick. They need to remember to show stoicism in the face of the mocking they so heartily deserve.

Stoicism. ...Stoicism? Stoicism is a copout for people who are afraid to have any kind of conviction in what they believe. It's just another way of saying "hey, you believe what you believe, and I'll believe what I believe." Stoicism is why I hate talking philosophy with "open-minded" people. It's boring, and there's no point to it, even if you are trying to make a fool out of the other person.

 

You might want to look that up in the dictionary.

Yea I agree, I didnt start this thread with the intention of reaching a unanimous decision. I agree with freebird, open minded cats are boring because they use 'doublethink' as a way to avoid confrontation...
