How to clean glass pipes..

ok so i have my glass pipe and usually i get a small pipecleaner and hot water to get the mouthpiece and that part of the pipe, but its been getting clogged down under the hole in the bowl and around in the inside of the bowl (hard to explain but im sure you get what im saying. I dont know how to get down in that part to clean it..should I just boil it in hot water or what? I got a lil octopus (glass) on it and i dont want it break off or fall off in the process, but i really need to clean it. help plz =)

btw..i would use iso alc, but im afraid it will stain my glass..i used that (stupid idea i know) on a plastic bong and it fucked up the plastic..just thought id throw that in there..

 

You can just boil it, but it kinda smells. Alc wont stain your glass, and is a better alternative if your worried about smell

 

get a good sized zip lock bag

pour rubbing alcohal in and a half cup of salt in it

place pipe in and shake(gentely, dont want to loose that octopus)

try and maneuver the salt into the places you want to clean the most

dont use this method if your planning on keeping the resin

 

ok, im not worried about the resin, but wouldnt alcohol burn through the ziplock bag? j/w

a good way that i JUST did...this is the first time i actually CLEANED my pipe..i usually just scrape it cuz i didnt care about the inside too much...well i got a small plastic bowl and filled it up with pretty warm..almost hot water..with lots of dish soap..then i let my bowl sit in there face down for like 5 minutes...i took it out and scraped the bowl with a toothpick..and got the resin off like nothing..then i let it sit in the water again for like 5 more minutes..and i took it out..rinsed it out with just warm water in a sink..then i used those cotton swabs..those ones you clean out your ears with that have 2 sides..i used that and cleaned the inside...its SPOTLESS

 

Scrape out that resin with a paper clip.Smoke that shit.Then clean it.Alcohol+rice,shake it.Then rinse with hot/warm water

 

I've heard that smoking resin is nasty. Though I'm always looking to experiment, of course.

I use the salt/rubbing alcohol method................i just pour a tiny bit of salt into the bottom of the bowl....i use the salt without iodine........then pour in a bit of rubbing alcohol into the bowl.............then plug all holes with fingers.............gets kinda awkward..........then just shake it around for awhile.............and rinse with hot water for like 1-2 min...............then if anything remains..........like the actual bowl (where you put your weed) i just use a q-tip (thing you clean your ears with) dipped in a pre-mix salt/alcohol solution..........and just get the few specs that remain and it comes out just like the day you bought it..........minus the color changes in the pipe

 

haha bullshit. You can get high as hell with resin. It's just hard to hit it right at first. You have to hit it slow and long to get good hits. It will get you high as fuck.

I have this shit called Formula 420 to clean my glass. You can probably buy it at your local headshop. It works wonders. All you do is pour some of the fluid in the pipe, cover all the holes, and shake vigorously for 1 minute. Then you rinse your pipe and it's spotless.

 

I forget where I saw this but pour some alcohol and rice in the pipe, cover the holes and shake for a few minutes. It works every time and leaves the pipe spotless.

I used to use oxyclean on my pipe and this shit just powers out the resin, boiling water and oxyclean, I recomend!

 

scrape the fuck out of it, then boil it.

My experiences with boiling my pipe, in my opinion have left them fragile. I have thought about it..and wouldn't the heat of the boiling water or the surface of the pot alone change the molecular structure of the glass making it brittle??? I have had bad experiences boiling pipe..as in dropping one a few inches from a thick carpet and it bursting into millions of pieces after boiling it. It had fallen much farther and onto harder surfaces a few times and never even chipped. So, I don't know for sure, but to me it makes sense.

What do you guys think????
