Overpopulation isn't a problem of too many people really. It's a problem of localized infrastructure failures and poor allocation of resources. In that sense Nigeria would be overpopulated, but Hong Kong would not be, even though Hong Kong has a higher population density and does not grow much of it's own food. The world can sustain a larger population. By most estimates the population will grow to 11-13 billion over the next 100 years and then reach a static point. Most industrialized nations are disproving antiquated ideas of human population growth that says that populations will continue to grow untill they can no longer sustain growth.
