I'm 17, 6'3, and 196 pounds. I've been taking these, combined with regular workouts, for about 6 months, and the differences I've seen are astounding. Although, I've heard rumor that there are some downsides to these things. I asked the supplier at the health store, and she said there really aren't any. Just wondering what you guys know/think about this stuff.
I dont really know anything about whey, but I'm really big on creatine. I'm 5'10 and about 160 pounds, and its made a big difference in my exercise rountine. I've been able to stay in my weight class (I'm a kickboxer, so its important that I dont put on too much weight too fast) and at the same time, put on a lot of lean muscle. I've been taking creatine for about 3 months and I haven't had any negative side effects. I've heard stuff about dehydration and cramps and stuff, but I stay pretty well hydrated when I'm exercising anyway... It hasn't bothered me.
i'm gonna be buying a 100% whey protein supplement soon, probably this weekend. you need to be hydrated to take supplements. personally, i drink roughly 2 gallons of water, plus some gatorade, and cranberry juice through out the day. its been working well for me.
As posted above, hydration is the key, along with taking in small to moderate amounts throughout the day. The bod can only assimilate a certain amount of creatine at a time, so taking more than 5g per serving is overkill. I've also read that taking creatine with a simple carb, like grape juice, can help expedite assimilation.
supplements are just that, a supplement. a person with a shit diet will not benefit from taking supplements, just a plain waste of money. before taking supplements, make sure you have a good diet going on and then, if you choose to take a supplement go ahead. a person who has a proper diet and exercises will benefit from the supplement.
