why do people hate hippies?

I mean, not everyone. but I know some people who really just hate hippies?
why do you think?

back in the 60's & the 70's there where peace callers, they where called hippies and mainly they only smoked weed, now that didn't go for long, for as hippies always think, "if it feels good do it" well that got them into deep shit with highly addictive and heavy drug use, imajin your self a herween junkey, without your dose you can't get off the bed besides the horible pain, naturally no body wants to see that, so if a herween addict didn't have enough money for his next dose 'which I doupt any hippy would have' he will steel sometimes kill for it, you can add cocain, acid, mdma, all kinds of shit, so things started looking like no more peace calls, we're too buissy doing drugs and having sex, that way the majority went on, while the real peace love and harmony talk changed into the how to steel for drugs talk, and that's all poeple can see, plus hippies where ment to slap the whole society on the face, you can't slap no one and expect him to love you...!!!

 

I belive people hate hippies because they fear anything that is different, plus ,I believe that they envy us our guts to live outside their everyday "norm", maybe their hate really hides the fact that deep down inside they wish they could be more like us!
That is why I always answer their hate with kindness, I pity them .

 

1. They're liberal
2. They're dirty

Those are the only two reason's I've ever heard from someone who doesn't like hippies. Haha dumb eh?

the prostitutes didn't like the hippies cuz they had a good business going selling love and along came the hippies who believed in free love and then the whores couldn't sell it anymore cuz everyone just went to the hippies where they got it for free

 

People hate hippies because we refuse to conform to society's standards. And people don't like that.

 

well as with any "style" that anyone can join, there are the people who have to make everyone else look bad

Most of the folks I've ever met don't hate hippies 'cause they don't believe they exist anymore. My nursing instructor -- who is both gay and a few years my senior -- has certainly put in his two cents about the look. He doesn't much fancy longhair or beards when caring for people up close and person. I shrug. I will pin my hair up, trim my and shape my beard and make sure that my personal hygiene is always clean and odor free. But it doesn't stop me from being a hippie.

 

I think a lot of people hat hippies because all they know of them is the stinky, dirty, druggy hippy stereotype.

 

They are afraid of people they don't understand, and most of all, don't want to to try to understand for fear of rejection from their peers. It's a very narrow minded way of thinking which I could never be like. Everyone has wonderful ideas and life styles to offer. It would be so boring if we were all alike. Hippies are like a flower garden, they come in all varieties of styles and colors which makes the world more colorful and beautiful.

 

Actually, I was watching the Simpsons the other day, the one where Homer decides he's gonna be a "hippie" and grandpa said something like, "those slef-rightous hippies..." something something something......but my oma was sitting beside me while I was watching it, and she said that is really what hippies are seen like. They preach acceptance, but judge anyone who opposes them in any way. Basically, everything that do and say is what is right, no exceptions.

 

^^^^^thats not true i dont think everything i say is right. i actually believe theres many exceptions. and i judge based on personality traits, such as wut one says and acts like and behaviour and such, and my opinion is never concrete

Here we go again:
You cannot openly hate any other minority group. To "hate" homosexuals, racial minorities, religous groups, etc..would be wrong and would invite very harsh critisism.
However, no one is offended when hippies are hated, except for us hippies of course.
In a nut shell... they hate us because they can.

 

there was that old man sitting by the fire place smoking his pipe, he has classic music, some fancy brandy and a good book, and he thinks to himself now that's a propper evening ... then AAAAAA BOOM comes the son with long hair and a beard too, he thrashes their heads with his shock chords and sound effects, after he's done some shrooms and a couple of bongs (ha ha ha I do that all the time) ... I don't think Daddy is going to be nice to that kild by any meens, same thing happened when all the hippy thing started, royal father will not accept noisy little brats yelling, screeming and running all over his court !!! especially if they did drugs and had sex on the DAM STREETS!!! you can do what ever you feel like, if it's not what they like, they will not like you either ... makes sence to me !!!

 

I never said it was true, just sharing one opinion from someone I know who grew up in that time.

 

i think its because people either-
1: dont believe in freedom and stuff that we do; they dont care about recycling and seeing things through our eyes. theyre stuck in their own beliefs and think we're a bunch of washed-up fools, or
2: theyre jealous of what we have; a vision that they dont see.

 

I think people hate "hippies" because it's kinda a "them vs. us" thing. People don't understand hippies. A lot of so called hippies are only about the outward appearance, what that it so what it shouldn't be about in my opinion. I also think that in the world we live in, being a hippie is so unpopular it just turns people off. That being said, I consider myself hippie and I am not ashamed.

 

People who are not free,and know it ....but pretend they are free....hate people who really are free!
