do i have to wait until i've missed my period to take a pregnancy test? or can i just take one like, tomorrow morning? (its 1 in the morning right now), a week before my period is due? because its kind of stressful... waiting in vain.
in order to work properly, you have to take it after your period is due. Only then the concentration of the Hormone that is looked for, it high enough. There are earlier pregnancy tests, but I've only heard not so good things on them.
It all depends on the level of HCG? (pregnancy hormone) in your urine. Some women won't get a positive test until a week or two after they miss their period. Some women get a positive a week before they miss AF, but that is rare as the fertilized ova needs time to implant into the uterine wall. Save your money and take the test a week after your period should have started. Nothing worse than peeing on a stick, and then wiping blood before you ever see the negative result.
"Nothing worse than peeing on a stick, and then wiping blood before you ever see the negative result" I just did that two days ago.. My period was over a week late, as soon as I took the test.. I got my period. It was frustrating. I know stressing over being pregnant makes your period later too (although I wasn't stressing, travel just threw mine off)
no, there is something worse: attending to the bruises the asshole gave you while waiting on that test to see if you can run scot free.... and seeing a positive.
what mamaboogie said. I have had that happen a couple times, too, where I get my period as soon as I took the test. Seriously, save the money (those things are damn expensive) and try to gritt your teeth through the next few days
There is a newer OTC pregnancy test which can detect pregnancy hormones up to five days before you miss your period. Unless you really need to know, I would do one of the standard tests, which usually are pretty reliable the day you are due or a day or so afterward. Always use morning pee. Take the test immediately after you wake up. Morning urine has more HCG (the hormone the test looks for) but also is concentrated, so you will have even more HCG. An afternoon test, while you have been drinking water all day, going about your busienss, while accurate for some, has a higher false negative rate. Mainly because the HCG level is too low for detection.
When I used morning pee my tests came back negative, so I used my pee at night and got a super positive result....Is that weird?
Unfortunately, this version sounds all too familiar... Good luck Nisha and hopefully yours turns out the way you want it to....
Hugs. Thoughts with these ladies. Hugs and love for them all. Moon, it is possible that your baby's placenta implanted that day (after the first test) and started making lots of HCG. Or, you could have been a bit dehydrated that day and had more concentrated urine in the evening. Everybody is different. There is always that DAY that the HCG goes from indetectible to detectible, you took two test on that day.
i want to give thanks everyone who replied. i managed to get my mind off it for a week... and i'm expecting my period tomorrow- noooo i'm not trying for a baby at all .. but i have been having pill problems... i had sex with no condom and then slept over at his house and forgot my pill at home.. so i was kind of worried and you know when you're worried you just kind of feel like you're getting the symptoms. i was abnormally nauseous and in the car i had the most terrible motion sickness ever. hugs to you drumminmama
Many moons ago, when I was on the Pill I always carried it in that little zipper compartment in the purses. (This is usually inside the main compartment, a zipper on the side, I won't buy purses which do not have this compartment, even though I am not on the Pill anymore, it is good for your meds in one of those little flat pill boxes and a few LactAids and Beanos, now.) That way I always had it with me. That little compartment is usually large enough for a few condoms and even a diaphram, if that is what one uses. My friends and I in college used to call that compartment the "Birth Control" pocket. ") Good luck to you. Nisha. There is also a "Morning After" pill, which can be taken if you have unprotected sex. It can be used up to 72 hours after. It is just a concentrated form of the combo Pill, which can prevent both ovulation and implantation.
