I know a lot of you mammas out there use Diva Cups. Well, I just got mine in the mail today and I've been working on using it. I'm in a really light, spotty flow right now, so I figure this is a good time practicing using it before my real period comes up (I switched to Seasonal, which has my period all messed up right now). ANYWAYS, I'm having issues with it. I can't get it in! I don't know if my vaginal canal is really small or what, but it's hard to get in...and when I take it out...it's extremely hard to get out too! I can't even twist it to make sure it's sealed. I studied the directions over and over and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. THEN, when I finally got it in a comfy position earlier. I went to empty it out this evening and I was bleeding like CRAZY! Really really thin blood...not period blood either. I'm hoping I didn't damage something. Are there any tricks you can use for easy in and out? I tried it every which way and I'm having a hard time. I'm relaxing my muscles and everything. I know a lot of you swear by it, but right now...I'm not liking it too much. My yoni is in a lot of pain right now
I had problems in the beginning too. I was actually a little pissed when I first bought it because I thought it just wasn't going to work. The directions actually did NOT work for me. There was no way I could twist it after getting it in there! I finally got it after a few (several) tries. Basically I just relax while sitting on the toilet, and fold the diva cup as small and tight as possible. Then insert with forefinger and thumb and actually keep your fingers with it until it's up there far enough--far enough for me is so the stem isn't popping out at all. Usually I have to go more "back" than just "up" to get it in far enough. Hope that helped but I think it varies from woman to woman and you'll just have to go through a little trial and error. Also, and this may be unorthodox, but if you have the opportunity, have sex before trying to insert it.
