WELCOME "AUKSASPARNE", I'm one-half LITHUANIAN, as my FATHER'S PARENTS (MY GRAND PARENTS) came from VILNIUS, LITHUANIA, to AMERICA, by the way of THE PRESIDENT LINCOLN BOAT, to ELLIS ISLAND (in NEW YORK CITY, NY), in the very early 1900's. They were living in LITHUANIA, when it was under RUSSIAN CZARIST RULE, so they spoke RUSSIAN, and had many RUSSIAN CULTURAL BELIEFS, but also LITHUANIAN. Under RUSSIAN CZARIST RULE life was harder in LITHUANIA, so they came to AMERICA for a better (and more FREE) LIFE-STYLE. They worked hard, and later, achieved their GOAL of a BETTER LIFE-STYLE!!! They operated an APPLE ORCHARD at first, but then got AUTO FACTORY WORK, with DECENT WAGES, to purchase a nice brick home in Detroit, Michigan. Also, they had many kids. My LITHUANIAN GRAND PARENTS may be related to the famous POLISH-LITHUANIAN military commander (from 1601: FIELD HETMAN of LITHUANIA, from 1605: GRAND HETMAN): JAN KAROL CHODKIEWICZ (1560-September 24, 1621) , who was one of the most prominenet 17th century nobelman of the POLISH-LITHUANIAN COMMONWEALTH! He was very successful in all of his battles, even when "outnumbered"! He eventually died at CHOCIM CASTLE / FORTRESS on September 24, 1621, after defeating a military advance from the OTTOMAN EMPIRE! Have you ever heard of him? Some say that my MIDDLE BROTHER looks alot like JAN KAROL CHODKIEWICZ! Many of my CHODKIEWICZ cousins joined the NAVY. One of my CHODKIEWICZ cousins even worked in the PENTAGON (for the NAVY), but he RETIRED awhile ago! It MUST BE that MILITARY COMMANDER - JAN KAROL CHODKIEWICZ "blood-line"???
