    Why would you microwave them?

Anyway I've had veggie sandwich 'meat' before, didn't like it though. Too much like the meat version, and I never liked that in the first place.

Saying that I like morningstar's bacon in a sandwich (with plenty of ketchup) and yes it does change colour *. Just to a darker brown, still tastes the same. Probably, I've never eaten it raw.

    * I only know that because I'm impatient and love our microwave's high speed function, it's like oven cooking, only faster

I've never tried any of them before but, Smart Dog makes "smart deli" consisting of an array of sandwich "meats."

I guess this applies to this thread

I ate some veggie hot dogs a while back, they tasted great!
Still prefer the real thing though, even though I don't know what's "real" about a "real" hotdog.

I guess I don' really care that much anyway.

It's funny I had some veggie hotdogs and they freaked me out. Too much like meat I suppose.

It worrying really how fake the real hotdogs must be. Never liked those much anyway.

I've picked up vegetarian cold cuts at my local health food store, and it's been in the freezer case. If you want one or two slices rather than a big chunk, you need to separate them with the microwave. Even if you really and truly do want a big chunk, it's just too cold and hard to enjoy eating.

There may be other vegetarian cold cuts that aren't frozen, but I haven't found them around where I live.

    You damn rite!
Unfortunately lots of veggie buy this sort of food, I wonder what do they (the manufactory) do to make them tasty as meat :(

Ugh . . . I have eaten a couple "fake hamburgers" and "fake chicken" and it's okay, but it has a funky aftertaste. I get kind of weirded out though if I start trying to figure out what kind of stuff is in these fake meats. Fake lunchmeat? Haven't tried that.

My main meat substitute is mushrooms. I love em. Portabellas are the best of all! Fry em, grill em, cut em and sautee' them . . . yummmm!
