    Everything Closes Out

When you feel the urge to
run out and buy an old
    shirt and tie, a pair
    of wingtips.

An elderly man in an alley
    calls you over to watch
    his burro.

    To leaf quickly through blue
    leather-bound volumes on an
    antique smelling shelf.

Your daughter is Lloyd, the blonde -
haired man who sells crack to the
    giraffes that walk the windowpanes.
Solar powered planes crashing into the sun,
beating eggs in a glass chair.

We weep for what should not be there,
    for what is there,
for what we wish were there.
And swim in the pounding waves
    of blood in our ears.

Nicely fragmented, still flows although it changes up quite a bit. The images are vivid and bright. Very nice, thanks for posting it.

Thanks OneUndone, I appreciate the comment. You have anything you'd like to share?

That one's from a while ago, let me see if I can find something more recent...
    here we go:

    Lather, Rinse, Eternity

The door sticks when you try to
    slide it open.
    Nothing changes, tomorrow nothing
    will change just like
    today.
With cigarette still burning on top
of still empty wine cooler bottle.
    With siren still distantly whining,
    with car quietly passing the
    house,
    acorn bouncing off the ground.

    Endlessly, quietly, continuing.

With bottle neither emptying further, nor
    being thrown out, nor re-filling;
with cigarette never burning out, nor
    burning back whole.
With acorn never coming to rest,
always in the process of falling.
With too big gulp of coke always
    burning my throat with carbonation.
    My handwriting forever reminding me
of an old good friend. Who is always gone.
    Forever never coming back.

On the first one, I really liked that last stanza. And the 2nd one...well, I just liked it all. :D I even think I can see what you're getting at...

Thanks for the kind words FreeBird.........

Try this one on for size:

    SUB MARINE BIOLOGY

There's a sense of urgency about all
    of this-
    I don't know why.

There is no urgency for me-
I just try to sail the sub and
make the days run together in rhyme.
I try not to count the bills, or
    register the time.
    Everything's kinda dark down here
(my orders tell me to stay submerged).

    I don't follow orders, but
    routine is my Kommandant.
    I feel guilty, after all,
    I am the Captain here.
What have I led these people into?

It may be sunny up above for all I know.
There may be ice ten feet thick with snow.
The hull has been creaking for months now
    from this pressure pushing in.
I cannot trust the gauges- they speak
    in many tongues.

They tell me we are almost out of
    paper towels.
