So what do you do?

 

Break the stick then relax and relish in my success with a hot cup of tea.

 

Question his Kung Fu and challenge him to a contest.

A pupil complained to his master about how he is not able to see the progress in his zen studies. The master told him to watch rocks grow, when the student was to be able to see rocks grow patiently, then he could actually observe his progress with clarity and patience.

 

When your master lets you see your fingernails grow, it's clear he's holding you back.
