So I have been on on birth control for 6 years (various forms) and have never had any problems (no side effects). I used to skip my period occasionally by skipping the inactive pills and just starting a new pack (my doctor recommended this). I am about to start Seasonale this Sunday to get the same effect (no period, at least not as often) but I am worried about all the side effects and constant bleeding I keep worrying about.

My question is: Has anybody who had no problems skipping periods with traditional birth control had problems with Seasonale? If I haven't had break-through bleeding through my old skipping periods method should I expect to have it with Seasonale?

    Thanks!

I'm on Seasonale...but only for about two and a half months now. I've never had breakthrough bleeding before Seasonale (I was on Yasmin before), but now I do...it's mostly very light...and not painful.

I'm still trying to figure out if I like seasonale, though. My doctor says that once I have my period from this pack, my body will begin to start adjusting to only having a cycle once every three months as opposed to every month. That's why you have breakthrough bleeding, anyway...because your body is adjusting. I have had no other side effects from Seasonale thus far...no weight gain or swollen breasts.

    Good luck :)

How soon after starting Seasonale did you start getting breakthrough bleeding? Was it right away or not until the time you were supposed to get your period?

I went through my first set fine...where the usual inactive pills would be I didn't have breakthrough bleeding...a week after that, though, is when I started having breakthrough bleeding.

It goes for a day or two and then stops...and starts again. It sneaks up on you, I know that!

I've been taking Seasonale for about 7 weeks now and I haven't experienced any breakthrough bleeding like mentioned, but I've noticed that I've been breaking out a lot recently, since I started taking the pill.
I'm interested in what kind of side-effects I will experience as I continue taking the pill.

The only thing I don't REALLY like that much is that if I do get pregnant while on the pill, I won't know if I'm skipping a period or not. =(
