aren't we all assistant mods anyway? in that we can all go and find mods and report things to them? Or does an assistant mod actually have moderating duties too?

What are you talking about?!?! Another mod??? Are you crazy!?!? Geddouta here :p

Ahem. Yeah, I reckon we need another mod for when Sal's not around, and it kinda looks like Claire would be a popular choice. Now then, who wants to suggest it to Sal? :X

Skip's generally really busy, and in my experience he's usually reluctant to get involved in disputes. On top of that, it's better if it's someone who's familiar with the UK community really.

Well i dont personaly think we need a new mod just because Sal is away, however yea i do agree Claire is a very motherly and respected part of this community who would fit the role.

Surely as someone else said though a new mod isnt really needed, we are having no troubles at the moment, everythings running smoothly and if trouble was to occur im sure we could just go and talk to skip instead.
Im sure if skip thought we needed a new mod he'd let us know, and indeed i would vote for claire as although shes not the only motherly and respected figure she is one of the most active members out of people i would consider to be trustworthy of the role.
But yea, why dont we jsut leave it untill we need a mod because it wont be long till sals back... surely... will it? :S ...:(

Not a replacement mod, an assistant mod. Skip's reluctant to get involved in my experience. We need someone who'll act quickly when we get trolls in the forum. Hell, anyone'll tell you that forums without active moderation often degenerate into troll-fests pretty quickly. Sal's been pretty distant for quite some time now, and if he's not gonna have the time and energy to dedicate to modding, then he needs assistance - not replacement, just assistance.

yea i guess an assistant would be helpfull for stoping people like borg or what ever his name was who used to be really mean.

Also i dont think its sals fault he hasnt been around, its not that he hasnt got the energy he just has a life outside the forums as does everyone on here. i think hes done really well as a moderator in the past*lifts glass* TO SAL!

Wasn't saying it was his fault - just the way it is. Less time spent on the net and more time spent out living your life seems like a good idea to me anyway!

No one is saying Sal should be replaced, or that he can't handle the job. Sal has been incredible here and has done so much for this place, there is no way anyone could ever replace him, but he has a lot on, especially when he starts uni in a month, and I think it would be good to take the pressure off him a little by giving him a bit of help. I think Claire would be a fantastic person for this job as she gets involved, she knows the spirit of the forum, she knows a lot of the people in the community, and she is like the mother hen of the forum, always looking out for people and sorting out disputes. So, Claire gets my vote fo' sure.
