I enjoyed the New York water scenes the most and the interactive memory/dream space... that was an interesting lucidity in a mechanical 0 and 1 might equal consciousness realm.
No no, they were aliens. Remember? There was another ice age and they visited to study our anchient culture/species. They could only bring her back for a day because it was a flimsy storyline I dunno, I thought the whole thing was kinda dull... Flesh Fest was badass though. "Goodbye little one -FOOM!-"
i dont think its that relevant to cry on the fact that stanley kubrick wouldnt have done the movie that way. like u said, its not his script, its not his creation or anything, and i believe spielberg never wanted to make it look like it was all kubrick's. spielberg has his own style, whether u like it or not, and of course if he takes on somebody elses work its gonna be all spielbergish in the end. havin said that, i think your opinion is sensed, so yea, im just discussin
Yeah, I totally agree Crayola. I'm just lamenting what could've been if there had been just one more Kubrick film!
I couldn't agree more, "sappy and weird" were the first words that came to my mind when I watched this one. Now, that there's nothing wrong with weird movies, actually I'm a big fan of all kind of bizarre flicks but this one just didn't add up. This is not an artsy movie and Spielberg is no Lynch. I didn't like "Eyes Wide Shut", either. It doesn't seem like a Kubrick movie.
it's kind of marketed as a Spielberg/Kubrick co-production, though. that's why i rented it in the first place.
Hmm...I liked it. Not a fan of Steven Spielberg's directing, but the weirdness won me over. You don't even need to really pay attention to how cohesive the plot is to get something out of the various settings and characters. It's really the only movie of its kind and I like the subject matter, so... I think it succeeds in bringing realistic robots and aliens in flying boxes to the silver screen.
