My dreads are a little over 4 months old. I did them the natural way. I love them. What do you think?

If you like them, that's all that matters.

They look a lot like mine around that age.

i keep rolling them. it just seems like they love to not work for me. any suggestions? i was told to let them be and they'll do it on their own, but i'm starting to doubt that. Any advice?

dilli has been rollin hers for like 4 hours a day,, she washes her hair 1 time a week..

when she washes them she washes with lye soap,, then conditions them with salt water and lemon juice..

yes if ya leave them alone in a year or two they will tighten up..

like i said,, you gotta hellu lot of hair,, its just gonna take commitment ..

rollin rollin rollin,, keep rollin them dreddies.. ;)

It's called PATIENCE...some people don't have four hours to work on their hair a day...that's called VANITY...and I guess I'm not vain enough to care about that sort of thing.

trust me dilli aint vain.. she just cant sit idle ,, an we all know that there is at least 4 hours that people piddle a day,.. look at you youve been typing here for the last 4 hours,,..

she just chooses to commit to something when she does it..

she committed to dreads an there done.. so VANITY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!!

commitment for what ya want does..

    love n light..

I don't care how my hair looks. It does what it wants to do. I didn't backcomb. I didn't do anything. FOUR HOURS? That seems to be a little much for me.

I haven't been on here for four hours either, so try again.

Dreadlocks are never done...they are constantly forming. I've had mine for almost two years. They aren't perfect, and you know what? That's how I like them...they are unique and different and they do what they want.

I guess people have dreadlocks for different reasons...but honestly spending lots of time on them seems to totally defeat the purpose of dreadlocks.

Annie, I completely agree with you. I backcombed my hair for like 4 days maybe.

dilligaf back combed hers 1 time!!!!:p

it took like 10 hours to get them seperated an started (thanks moon doggie), an that was at the start,, the rest has been rolling them..

i have a couple natural dreads,, im proud of them,, but when i decide to dread all my hair,, it will be back combed the first time,, less mess an less fuss..

And you've had dreadlocks for how long?

Yup, you are wasting your time here...because you made Bumble question the way her hair looks and honestly, it looks great...especially for only being 4 months old. Seriously, if you've had any experience with it yourself, then maybe you'd be able to give REAL advice.

Come on, guys. Cool it. Annie thinks rollin' sucks, and hillybilly thinks it rocks. We all have different opinions, and it's all good. Annie's dreads came out great, and so are Bumbles, and I'm sure hillybillys will be awesome, too.

    Be happy, guys! We're dready!

well hell, im sure annie knows way more about dreads than lots of people on here so you should take her advice. palm rolling is ok but spending that much time does seem kind of vain. either way it shouldnt matter what you do to your dreads its all about the way YOU want them to look. and even if you just got dreads for the look of it thats still ok, i dont get all of this stuff people say on this board like "your just doing it for the look of it" like its a bad thing. and bumble your dreads look EXTREMELY good for their age

I certainly don't know EVERYTHING about dreadlocks...and don't claim to. I, myself, have had dreads for two years...my boyfriend has had them for almost six years. I know what he did and what I did...and what has worked for him and what has worked for me. I've also done a lot of research on dreadlocks before I even decided to let my hair lock up...I know what I know and what has worked for me...and I also know how vain people can be with the way they look and IN MY OPINION...four hours of rolling is vain for hair that will more than likely fall out before it REALLY dreads up anyway.

This shows your ignorance. Dreads are NEVER "done" because they are always growing and changing, every single day they are different.

Are you just trying to piss people off?
