would i look good with dreads? haha lately everyone has been suggesting it (my hair seems to dread up by itself by the end of the day anyways) but i just dont know. be brutally honest!
i think most of us would say yes to most anyone about this. dont get them because they will "look good". get them if you have a DEEP love for them, otherwise dont. it takes a lot of maintence work (i think more than normal hair) and its a pain to get rid of, so doing it cause everyone else wants you to, would probably be a mistake...
welllll..... Here's what my five-year-old dreadhead has taught me. It's not about how dreads look. It's about expressing yourself, your individuality, your personality. You know some people are not going to like it, some will really hate it. You have to be able to not let that bother you and do what you want with your hair. Are you the sort of person can get up out of bed and walk out of the house with bed head, or do you have to have every hair in place? Because there will be days that your hair sticks straight out in all different directions, and there's nothing you can do about that except wait it out until dreads form.
ok, to answer some of our questions here... i do really want them, im just a lil nervous about it. im not at all the sort of person who worries about hair, i wake up in the morning & am lucky if i even remember to comb it. people who have known me my whole life will tell you they have never seen my hair in any style except just hanging straight down. thats why i dont know if dreads will be for me because i dont like to spend hours on my hair, i just like to get out of bed and leave. and some of you are saying thye are really hard to maintain...
they're only hard to maintain if you want them to be.... and yea wrong foryum to ask that question....I always say you can never go wrong with dreads nebody looks great
If you aren't one hundred percent sure about having dreads, don't get them. They take patience, comittment, and a thick skin. If you care at all about how you look and how people see you, it's not a good idea to get them, either.
Because you can really get some rude comments from people. My father (who hates my hair, but understands its my hair so its not like he can really do anything about it) is always like "Lost your comb?!" and shit like that. It really pisses me off, but I know whats what he's trying to do--get a reaction outta me. So I just say "Hey, at least my hair ain't gray" and walk away. That usually shuts him up.
You came to wrong place to ask for an opinion if you should get dreadlocks... Go to the marijuana forum to get a more honest opinion, or maybe the philiosophy corner if you want some deep insight on the metaphysical attutide to dreadlocks ... And my answer is of coruse , go for it, when is the next time your going to be able have a chance to get dread locks...
I think yer so purty that you'd still look purty no matter what you do to your hair. Yes get deads. About the maintenance thing, I disagree. I put my dreads in and left them. I wash em, thats about it. Every now and the I tear em apart at the roots, but for me, dreads are waaay less maintenance than normal hair.
