First off, I apologise for making this post, I realise that a lot of my questions will have been answered a dozen times but I am clueless as what to do.

I've been playing around with the idea of starting to grow my own weed as an experiment and as a way to save money.
I've been browsing a few sites for information but I never really get all the info that I want, and I get mixed messages all the time. Everyone has his own opinion about growing : indoor, outdoor - soil or hydroponic - what lamps to use, how to feed it etc...eventually leaving me where I started, confused and not knowing what to do.

So I came on here, asking for advice on how to start. I have never grown anything in my life not even flowers or vegetables or anything.

I'm currently looking for a place to live, and most likely it will not have a garden so outdoor growing is out of the question and I will most likely not have enough space to dedicate an entire room to my growing endeavours...so I thought I might start growing in my closet. It's 40cm deep, 80 high and 90 wide... and it has sliding doors in the front.

I'm not looking to grow enormous ammounts, just enough for myself and friends when they come over so hopefully that space will cover it.

    Now, as for my questions:

    1.How many plants do I need ?

2.What kind of lightbulbs do I need ? ( I would preferably grow a hybrid between Sativa and Endica if possible and not too expensive )

3.What kind of ( preferably easy to get ) soil would I need ?

4.What kind of adjustments do I need to make to the closet ?
How do I handle the ventilation ?

5.Depending on what I will grow how big will my crop be [(preferably in grams) ( I'll not be growing very rare stuff )] and after how long a period will I be ready to harvest ?

6.What are the costs I'm looking at ?

7.Is it possible that if my plant is growing too big for the closet, to sort of let it arch inside the closet along the edge, supported by hooks ?

I found a pretty handy guide on how to dry and cure marihuana so at the moment I don't really need advice on that just yet.

Those are all the questions I can think off, I probably need to ask a whole lote more, but I think for now, I've given you guys enough to reply to [IMG]

I realise that a lot of you guys will be rolling your eyes and sighing because I'm asking the same questions like a whole lot of other people have been asking you, but bare with me on this, it's my 1st plant and I really want this to work out.

Ok your right all of the questions you have asked have already been awnsered a few times so i suggest you go threw all the pages and take a look at the thread titles that relate to the questions you asked, then check out this link and read some of the stuff on there www.eroeid.org/plants/cannabis/cannabis_cultivation.shtml. Do that and you will have all the info you need. But seeing as your just starting growing and I am a new grower to just harvested my first crop there a few weeks ago there and have started my next so I'll give you my opinion to the awnsers to your questions.

    1. Thats an impossible question to awnser really, it depends how much you and your friends smoke, but you will get a decent amount from 2 or 3 plants and it's best to start small till you know what your doing so I would say stick with 2 or 3.

    2. Google the phrase grow lights, I grow indoors but always use the Sun for light so I can't really help you there.

    3. Just basic garden centre soil/compost works absalutely perfect, you can get all complicated talking about the % of the minerals and all but normal soil you buy in a garden centre work fine.

    4. At 40, 80, 90cm your closet is too small if you are hoping to grow decent sized plants, find a new place.

    5. The size of your harvest can vary hugely depending on how well your plants are grown, but if it helps I harvested roughly 20 grams a plant when completely dried out. It's possible to harvest much more or a lot less per plant depending on how well you grow it.

    6. Including the light, soil, fertiliser and pots ect you should easily be able to get going for well under $100, but I don't live in th USA so prices might be different there, hopefully someone else will be able to help you out with US prices.

    7. As I've already said I don't think that closet is big enough but you can let the plants bend if they get too big, it will probably stunt growth but won't seriously harm the plants. Personally I coaxed my plants to grow in kind of an S shape by changing the side the light was shining on them every so often, they will grow towards the light , this meant that the plant were about 3/4 the height they would have been if the had grown straight up.

There are people on here with a lot more knoledge on it than me so hopefully they can add to that.

I would use a 250w HPS light with extended spectrum bulb as it is only a small space. Or you could use a 200W envirolite this may even be better with your limited height. A small extractor fan fitted in the top of the closet should do for ventilation. A few holes drilled near the bottom of the closet will act as an air intake. Then an oscillating fan inside the closet blowing air over the plants will help. As for soil a lot of people in the States use Fox farm organic soil. This just about covers your basics.
