I work at a grocery store where they have a mouse problem. They use these traps that are just a piece of cardboard with a special glue on it. The mouse steps on it and gets stuck, then it freaks out until it dies of overheating/ heart failure. This really bothers me, and I've heard them squealing while stuck on the traps. I want to release them when I see trapped mice, but I don't want to get bit, or break their legs trying to rip them off the cardboard. It's just a bad situation. It's just a bad situation and makes me feel sad. Aren't there more humane traps? I'd like for them to use catch and release type traps, but I doubt this will ever happen. I dunno if this is in the right forum, but I just needed to vent.

Step on the mice after the get stuck on the trap, then you won't have to hear them squeal.

Many places that I've been in will use live traps... but then drown the mice after they are trapped in these traps. Drowning is the recommended "humane" way to kill mice in many places. Many times the type of trap used is decided by laws/regulations and isn't the sole decision of the store owner.

I can imagine that that is frustrating….honestly I don’t think that I could stand it either, i hate it when people kill mosquitoes. Defiantly look into other kinds of traps and talk to your manager.
