wassup. im thinkin about throwing down a OD but as u can see its a bit late in the season. i live in the beautiful sunshine stae of florida so we never go below 60 degrees...ever. So i just wanna kno wen is the best time to plant seeds to harvest at the end of the short season.... I just need details of the short season.... Thanks
Probably too late for seeds down there but nothing ventured means nothing gained. If you have some spare seeds go ahead and plant them. Some people don't realize that pot flowers based on the hours of light recieved. Later in season they may start floweriing before getting very big but that doesn't mean they can't mature. Where you live it's possible so why not try a few? Good luck and may the good spirits bless your efforts with a bounty from nature. BOG
And at this late date use kush as opposed to sativa which is a 'topical strain' and has a longer growing season=-)
It's not the temps that matter, it's the suns light cycle. Right now the light cycle outside has sent MJ plants into flowering. And the days will be getting shorter everyday until x-mas. Seeds planted now will likely grow very slowly and prob. won't do much veg--almost certainly not enough to build up enough energy to flower and produce buds. Like BOG said, if you have spare seeds and a location, go ahead and give it a try. But don't expect to get any bud.
Does anyone know why Afghani #1 is recommended as an indoor strain and not as outdoor? Afghani #1 is probably 90-100% indica so i doubt it would have a hard time flowering early in a short season outdoors, but why isnt it recommended for outdoor cultivation? Is it because of the high indica in its genes that it will most likely suffer from mold problems outdoors in the fall time? Afghani #1 is a pure bred and i think was crossed with Native plants from Pakistan. I know the climate in Pakistan is alot drier than most of North America. North America it seems is very humid at night during the fall which poses a problem for many other garden plants such as Monarda's (Bee Balms). This may sound like a stupid idea but could a person conceivably have Afghanis in vegetative state from may-june and then start forcing them to flower after july 1st by giving them shorter days by placing something dark over them for a majority of the day? That way they would be flowering during July-August when in alot of places especially the midwest and west it is very dry outdoors then? The mold might not be as much of an issue then dont ya think?
I don't know about the reasoning but many plants do fine in high humidity areas. Large fat moist buds are more likely to mold but my advice is to try it and see. I find indicas mature well in many areas that sativa's won't. BOG
