what is the easiest way to insert a drawstring into skirts/pants? I'm not really into using zippers, plus i don't think a zipper would go good with what I'm making.
There is a gadget they sell for doing that. It's called a Drawstring Re-Stringer by Singer. I tie a knot in the elastic or cord and run a large safety pin thru it & feed it thru that way.
I have a very simple gadget i made exactly for inserting drawstrings.... its a wire clothes hanger strightened out with a small loop at one end i tie my string on and push it through.....
oh crap, i didn't make myself clear enough. I meant like when you're actually making a skirt/pant, how do you make it so that you can put the drawstring in?
haha, going thru my sewing links: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=6838.0 not a drawstring tute, but crazy funny
and this is soooooooooooo cute! http://pic16.picturetrail.com/VOL677/2495652/7233121/94393677.jpg http://www.amitymama.com/vb/crafty-...-along-done-come-make-snail-hehehe-print.html anyways, i finally found the drawstring tute: http://www.savvyseams.com/techniques/drawstring.php ta da! (there was another link that showed how to make a whole pair of drawstring pants, too, but i didnt see it when i went thru my linkys)
Ah yes, the tried and true method--large safety pin....people been putting in elastic, ribbon and drawstrings with them for decades... a whole lot cheaper than paying for a gadget and no big deal if you lose your pin!
