I am wondering, has anyone had the problem where if they got any noticable body mods, their parents would kick them out of the house? I've been thinking about getting my labret pierced, and I ran this across the parents (because they flipped out when i came home with my tongue pierced and i didnt want to deal with that again). My mother told me that if i came home with my labret pierced, or anything else that cant be hidden easily, i am going to get kicked out of the house.

The main thing that pisses me off about this is that I am the only one in this house that has a job. Both of my parents are jobless. I'm paying my way through school, im working, and they are going to kick me out of the house if i get any noticable body mods? I personally think this is bullshit. My boss has no problems with body mods, they just say no rings cause it can get caught in the equipment.

Does anyone else have this problem? And is there any input on this? I'm kind of angry that im the only one in my family that is working at life, and they wont accept that and let me do what i want with my own body.

then you can do what you want.

i highly doubt they'll kick you out if you're the only one with a paying job, despite what they say.

if you live under their house, you live under their rules...unfortunately.

why not get your own place and pierce whatever you want to?

my rents have always told me and my sisters that if we ever got any tattoos or piercings, they'd kick us out, but my older sister had her tongue pierced and she got a tattoo and they didn't kick her out for that. they won't even let us dye our hair, but there wouldn't really be much they could do if we did. my sister always bugs them about it and i tell her to just do it because once she does it, they can't really make her change it seeing as they couldn't prevent her from doing it in the first place. eh. my big sis is going to take me to get a tattoo on my 18th birthday and that's quite some time away, but i don't give a shit if they kick me out for it, lindsay would be behind me the entire way, she'd take me in. she's a great sister.

Ohhhhh I remember it like it was yesterday... back in the day ...lol.. i was in the same situation as you. My mother would hit the roof when i came home with a new piercing or tattoo, everytime it would be get another one and you dont step foot in my house again! She has never thrown me out for my piercings or tattoos *that was for another reason*. The way i see it is if your legal to do it and your fully aware of the aftermath then go for it. Whats the worst that can happen ... you get kicked out. Being homeless isnt all that bad plus places to rent aint that hard to find.

Yeah, i know it would be great to live on my own and everything, but life is A LOT cheaper living with my parents. i want to do anything that i can to avoid having to leave right now, especially with school starting up tomorrow. i had to pay for classes and everything, and i dont have any money saved up so i wouldnt be able to get an apartment or anything right away anyway. so either way i would be SOL. I basically just wanted to bitch to anyone about my parents and how they piss me off...

You’re very right, that is ridiculous. My parents claim that my body isn’t mine until I’m 18.… two years and 5 months to go

I know where you're coming from. When I was 17, i got my tounge pierced and my mom hit me like 10 times. I moved out 3 days later, so there was no need to kick me out. But she was pissed as hell at me.
However, you can used the 18 card. I would talk to them before hand, saying, "look, I am paying my way though school, I am a responsible adult. I feel that I can make this decision on my own and that I have earned it.
    Try that. Sometimes it works.

my parents were quite the oppisite. as long as we weren't bothering them, then we could pretty much do whatever we wanted. everyone thought i had the coolest parents in the world.

well, i decided to talk to my ma and explain to her how im the only one holding a job and all my responsibilities and shit... well, my ma decided that she would blow up at me about how she has raised me for the last 18 years and how she should have a say in what i do... then i started gettin pissed and told her its not my fault they had me and that i was thrown into this world and i should have the dignity of being able to do what i want... blah blah blah... to make a long story short, we arent talking right now. my dad is pissed cause my ma cries everynight now cause of that. so, i have concluded that i will wait til either (A) i move out or (B) when she starts talkin to me again im gunna get it done and REALLY piss her off. depends on the mood when she talks to me again.

Parents are ridiculous. She's crying about you yelling at her? If you're the only one with a job, she might kind of be upset by the fact that you pointed it out. Even though you're right. If your dad automatically sided with her without even asking you, I would kind of not do anything extreme to make your mum upset. She shouldn't have a say in what you do and legally can't, and I don't think it would be fair of them to "kick you out" over such a little body modification when you're the responsible adult.
