I've got a stack of about 50 of the AOL free trial cds in my room... and that's what I just started saving since I stopped throwing them away about a year ago. It's disgusting how many go out all over the place.... I can't even imagine how much pollution it's causing! I got really pissed after reading a very good article in Rolling Stone magazine about pollution and so on, and then receiving an issue a few weeks later with an AOL cd taped to the front! Fucking hypocrites!

Anyway, with the help of TheMagicalMushy, I found this site... there are these two guys in California who will take all of your unwanted cds! Their goad is to get one million, and the drive right up to AOL headquarters in Virginia and say "You've got mail!" haha... :)

Save your cds! Don't throw them away! Send them to the fellas to make a difference!

Here's the link. Do the right thing! :) http://nomoreaolcds.com/

I rarely get them anymore. What I do sometimes though is get a bunch of junk mail and shove it all together in one pre-paid envelope and mail it away. It's easy too, because i real just have to shove all my junk mail in there and lick the back, there's really not much to it.

ARound the mid 1990's they use to give them out more I think. I remember we use to get them every couple days in the mail and on magazines. It was really weird I use to save them. I use to see the commercials and thought when it said, you got mail, it meant you literly had mail in the mail box. I thought that was pretty cool. Turns out that wasnt so true though. Ive gotten them in aluminum box's and dvd cases here lately. How do they afford to send them out in that? They do cause alot of pollution probably when you think about it. Every household in the USA probably averages out to getting atleast a couple a year and im sure the majority of them throw them out. Its pretty insane. I knew someone that use to get so many that they wouldnt pay for internet anymore just use the discs.

I hardly get them any more and i wish they would send me some because i am running out of coasters

They do have some good uses, coaster you can put them undertables and such if youhave a hard wood floor and would liek to prevent scratches, with some wire you can make rear veiw mirros for your kids bike, or set them on a pices of card board to make a mirror or one of those tanning things

I sure there is tons more just be creative!

To help stop that i have for the last year put return to sender on any junk like that. After awile the company or companies puts your address on a do not send list.Thats ben one way i have delt with it.But what those guys are doing is great too.But one thing to remember is that it still takes trees to be cut down in the long run to send it to them.Putting return cost nothing and if everone did that it would put a big hult to there mail order.Just a thought.

Heh I was just thinking of somthing. I forget how it went exactly. Basicly what you do is take a bunch of pennies in an envelope and mail it to whatever company is sending you junk mail. It will cost them a couple dollars to accept, theyll usually call you somehow or send you a letter being pissed off. call them and demand to have your pennies back. ;)

I think i have herd that one too. They have to pay the postage if you mail it with not enough. And most companys do not want to miss a letter that might bring in some money to there company.

You can do lots of artsy-fartsty and decorated things with unwanted CDs. It's better than throwing them out and adding to the landfills.
