Is it ok to "smoke" outside? If say we are walking down the street or on a canal bike can we "smoke" or will we get into trouble? Same goes for the hotel, we got a smoking room, can we "smoke" there too? The last thing I want to do is get into trouble or offend the locals. Thanks!
it's complicated... you're not allowed to smoke in public... but they won't fine you if you're smoking on the streets. Smoking weed in the hotel probably wouldn't be really smart... although I heard there is this weedhotel... saw it on tv once, lots of stuff is made of hemp (sheets of the beds, carpet etc...) smoking on the canal... Not sure, because you're not allowed to take part in traffic while under influence. I'm not so much of a boat-guy, so I don't know the rules about water-traffic. But then again, going for a walk is 'officially' taking part in traffic, and they won't fine you for that, might be the same thing with canal bikes.

Smoking dope in the privacy of your hotel room is fine, I have smoked in loads of hotel rooms and had no trouble at all. Smoking in public is a different kettel of fish, if your in an area in close proximity to other members of the public it is better not to as you obviously may make some of them stonned and before you know what everyone will be eating biscuits n stuff and giggling. Its common sense really and you will just 'feel' if smoking dope in your particular social situation is right or not.
