I have not combed/ran my fingers through my hair in like 4 days. It already looks like it is starting to get nappy. It is definatley crazier and the hairs are all overlapping and crossing each other. You probably can't tell to well of the texture of all the hairs, but they already look as if they will start knotting. The front of my head shows the individual hairs better. I am washing with Dr. Bronner's stuff. It has alot of good plant extracts recommended in a different post. How often should I wash my hair??? Should I mess up my hair and massage it really hard to make tangles and stuff, or just let it be???
Oh yes, will regular table iodized salt work in the lemon juice/salt mix, or just sea salt? They can't be that much different!
i dont think anyone can tell after 4 days whats happening besides you since they take a LOT longer to form. wash your hair however often you like. but do wash it for sure if you get oily and sweaty. iodized salt has the word iodized in front of it for a reason. if you want that in your hair, by all means, i wont stop you. but sea salt is a little less.. chemical? i dont know what lemon juice does besides bleachs hair in the sun.
Snyfin... Listen dont make a lot of topics make one topic with all your questions, dreading is not hard go to the topic where you asked what i sneeded to dread we answered your question man....
How long is your hair? And dont get so excited after 3 or whatever days. Its going to take at longer to get the dreads you want...
My hair is like 2 1/2 inches long. I know it will take a long time and no one seems to think I can do it...
Aww, come on... you can't say you weren't excited when you first started dreading...I know I was! Don't tell him not to be excited, because come on, dreading IS exciting! Your hair changes everyday, and every day you wake up, and see your hair more transformed into the dreadies you have been wanting for so long, it's awesome. I would contain your dready journey all in one post, because it just saves time, and keeps other people's threads bumped on top... Happy Dreadin'!
for my hair length, about how many months would it take for me to start seeing dreads? (I know it will be a long time, so don't lecture me on how I won't be able to do it) if left untouched, will it lock up naturally into each dread without doing anything except washing?
it matters on the person. what you do to form them, and your hair type and probably how much you move in your sleep. you're hair looks rather short for dreads imo and that would be a factor too (especially if you dont want ones that stand up....) theres no way to tell you if they are forming or when they will. only time and your in tune-ness with your hair will tell you.
my hair is about 2 1/2 inches long I sorta want it to dread as it grows, because I think that way, the root won't have as many problems. With shorter hair, you can access the roots easier. It will also grow alot in the next howevermany month too so that will be good.
I am starting to realize though that what the dreads look like will be a part of my personality and changing them to try to look "perfect" isn't being yourself.
unless thats part of who you are. just cause people on here dont fix theres for their reasons, doesnt mean you cant fix yours. you just have to realize they will never be absolutely perfect.
Yeah, you are NEVER going to get each hair in place... ever. Believe me. (I'm saying this because my hair looks like Amazon woman hair right now, all crazy and stuff. I need to take a shower, that usually calms my babies down a bit...)
ok, so I have developed a technique: After washing, I press down with my palm hard on my hair, and roll my hands around in one way really hard. Well, as you can see, my hair is showing more signs of nattyness. I have also made up my own little scale of progress in dreading: - one - straight hair - two - messy hair - three - tangly hair - four - natty hair - five - knotty hair - six - fully dreaded hair
errggggg. 2 1/2? thats awfully short for dreads, and especially natural dreads. i would say at least four inches for natural. but hey, whatever works. my hair is probobly six or seven inches, and its dreading like crazy. i wash everyday with bar soap. sometimes rub clockwise whenever i feel like it. and once a week i soak my hair is salt water. i have 17 or so dreads so far. and two really fat ones. my hair has always tangled alot, because i have straight on top and curly underneath. im only on week three. it all depends on your hair.
