I just heard the Smashing Pumpkins are returning to the studio for work on a new album. Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlain, and others are in the studio as we speak, James Iha, and Darcy are rumored to be staying away from the project due to their previous animosity with Billy. Are there any Pumpkins fans out here? I loved their music, and spent most of the 90's dreaming about their videos, and wishing I was in the band. silly kids! lol Anyway, I am anxious to see what they come up with in the studio...maybe the best new album since Mellon Collie.

DUde I guarantee you this album will SUCK just like Machina did. I used to be a huge pumpkins fan and still love gish, siamese dream, melon collie, etc. but something happened to billy and he went fucking crazy and started writing shit for music after melon collie. He took acid all during Siamese and Gish and then stopped during Melon Collie...maybe that has something to do with it...we all know what happened to aerosmith when they went sober
Actually...no. The announcement was made this summer, in the Chicago Tribune (Sun-Times, whatever.) There was speculation for awhile, but nothing definite.. Yes, I am upset Iha won't be in the lineup, to me, he WAS the Pumpkins. The lifeblood. He was an awful singer, but the best DAMN guitarist of the 90's. I don't know if the new material will be any good or not, but any true fan would never doubt the band until proven otherwise.
Oh, edit to the post above: don't take what I said about doubting the band to heart...you're right, Billy did change dramatically after Mellon Collie, that is the main reason James split in the first place. They couldn't work together anymore.
