I have friends who have done meth, ice, dope... whatever you wanna call it, but they all say speed is something different, but no one's sure just what it is... So i have to know... what exactly is speed?

Nah... i don't think it's either one of those. I'm from Rome, GA... the home of White Lightning Racing and a huge supplier of meth for the South. The rednecks down here have been making meth for generations and there are as many different set-ups and labs here as you might find looking all over the world. I have personally seen a five gallon bucket full of the shit hauled out in front of me by a neighbor, but I'm not into that stuff at all... I've already checked erowid and all that shit... Hell, I'm no newby to drugs by any means... people in my neighborhood called me the "outlaw doctor" because of the info i picked up on about prescription drugs from research, college, and all the Dr.s and R.Ns in my family... not to mention my knowledge of latin and medical terminology. I studied to become a doctor at one point, but I hate biology and learning about plants... My friends all told me it came in a pill form or it was a yellowish orange powder... not crystals or shards... anyone got a clue as to what this "speed" was?
That is probably referring to prescription amphetamine/dexamphetamine pills. However, I consider speed to be meth, plain and simple. Some people even consider coke to be speed, simply because of the stimulative effects. The definition of "Speed" will varu from person to person, depending largely on their location and the group of people they hang out with.
well ive always been under the assumption that speed was simply amp's.. not meth, meth was different, but w/e, i dont really care for stimulants anyway
It depends on where you are, Meth where I live is refered to as P or ice, speed is amphetamine, it comes as a pill or as powder. Speed is just slang for amphetamines of some sort
"Speed" is a name for many kinds of (meth)amphetamines, as well as "Ecstasy" is a name for many kinds of more complex (meth)amphetamines, incl. e.g. MDMA, MDA, MMDA, MDB, BDB, MBDB and many more... Both are just street names. You buy "speed" or "ecstasy", but you´ll never exactly know what you´ll get. The times when "speed" was precisely methamphetamine and "XTC" was MDMA are over.
