surely there must be a good number of hawkwind fans on here, i know of one or two atleast. Whats you favourite hawkwind song? favourite album? old hawkwind or new hawkwind? what do you think of the album art (especially older stuff) which albums do you have? add and reply to any other questions i havent thought of Also if you havent heard hawkwind, go find a song or ten of theirs - they are out of this world http://www.hawkwind.com/hw_x.htm < their site
Whats you favourite hawkwind song? - Assault and battery, but only when played with the golden void (they just flow together so perfectly) favourite album? - doremi faso latido or warrior on the edge of time old hawkwind or new hawkwind? - deffinatley old, newer stuff has become abit corrupted in my opinion what do you think of the album art (especially older stuff) - far out :sunglasse which albums do you have? - warrior on the edge of time, doremi faso latido, hawkwind, in search of space, hall of the mountain grill, 25 years on,
I have Space Ritual....and In Search of Space...both excellent Hawkwind albums and yes the album art is killer....that is the major drawback to cd's...we have lost the album art of days gone by...to be reduced to nothingness too many to choose from for what is the best Hawkwind song though
I have most of their early albums on mp3, from the later I have Electric Teepee wich is also one of my favourites. Well, a whole bunch of albums of Hawkwind are among my favs but I too think Warrior on the edge of time is my favourite album. The golden void is surely one of my favourite songs of them. Gonna see them again in April.
man, i wanna go to Tanelorn..... Anyhoo.... pretty much like alla their work but fave songs have to Silver Machine if i'm feelin' a lil' adrenaline charged (old biker, habits die hard ) or Ghost Dance Live, for the more chilled out moods, awesome stuff!
i think the major let down of music today is not just unoriginality but also the dreaded MP3 - people can just buy songs off the internet straight away and listen to them without having to carry round CD's. So, album art has gone out of the window, which does part and parcel with the album. Also, any one a fan of Michael moorcock? i guess you have oz His books influenced hawkwind alot, especially with the album 'the chronicle of the black sword'
I saw 'Hawkwind' at The Hammersmith Odeon in 1980...or was it 1981, when they had a guest drummer playing:......none other than Ginger Baker!. I think they were promoting an album called 'Levitation'?I'm not sure.I was a 'headbanger' in those days & I also saw Motorhead at the same venue performing:'The Ace Of Spades'.
I just realized Michael Moorcock was in it.. I'm definitely a fan of his books. And I had just downloaded some Hawkwind earlier to check it out not even realizing that, while I have also just finished one of his books..
Old stuff is great, but new is even better. For now, my favorites are California Brainstorm Electric Teepee The Business Trip Yule Ritual And – It Is The Business Of The Future To Be Dangerous. I have no idea why this album is hated by the most of fans, though maybe this is just an exaggeration. As for the album art, it’s okay.
Whats you favourite hawkwind song? I cant answer that, its a hard one, ah a recent one i heard and it made me stop and listen was Bosnia on Spacebrock, Alien am i, i like a lot, earlier stuff, Outside the law, Brainstorm, Motorway City, Spirit of the Age, Flying Doctor, Needle Gun, Shot Down in the Night, Night of the Hawks, Lighthouse, I could go on all night. favourite album? I like the Live 79 album, very few bands sound as good live as their studio stuff, this album shows that Hawkwind are one of the few. Other live albums to look for, Chronicles of the Black Sword and The Friday Rock Show. old hawkwind or new hawkwind? To be truthful i cant think of a time in their near 40 years of playing when i dislike anything, some songs are harder to swallow than others eg, bucket on the had, uncle sams on mars, etc, the records from their punkish kinda style in the seventies, these are my least favorite i suppose. what do you think of the album art (especially older stuff)? I have only just today discovered a site that i can download album covers from Hawkwind albums and i been a fan for 24 years and still discovering albums i didnt know exsisted, some of the art word i found are fantastic although i did notice a lot of art work taken from fantasy art books, eg, work by Rodney Mathews, I think that what ive seen in the past 20 odd years has Generally its good . which albums do you have? Yeah, I have some Alan Davey albums as well. Captured rotations has some great sounds on it. Albumartwork definately adds something to bands like Hawkwind, and I check most of it out as well. But I simply can't buy everything I want, so I also have a lot only on mp3.
The album art is not popular anymore for a simple reason ... when in the mid 80's more more & more K7 were sold ...it turns there... how can u put a beautiful pace of art in this tiny ridiculous space...it's insultin' the artist... well the 80's were a bit that...insultin' the artist ... But the tiny K7 don't explain all.... in the early 80's when the vinyl was still largely the most popular... You will find less classic superb album art at that time... so it was the mentality of the time + the Antechnologic... and for hawkwind i've got just their early albums... from their 1st in 70 to their 6th "Warrior at the edge of time"... and the departure of speedking Mr Kilminster or "killminister" Well for a lot of people..."doremi fasol latido" is their best...it as real good moments...but it's too dirty apocalyptic garage space rock...is not totally my ideal... i like them when they are a bit more clean produced (but not 2 much...not as 80's Journey) ... this album is like if punk rockers where jumpin' at the command of The Star Trek galaxic machine So in this more clear way (the clean way & less punks) ..."Warriors at the edge" of time is what i like the most in them... really progressive...adventurin' new territories...don't even need to smoke with them (it's just theory)...you're already flyin with their highspeedmachine .... this album is not as high speed as doremi but well more imaginative i think... And what a beautiful tittle and cover... both things that you can't find in our iron flowers age... I never buyed one of their album released after 75... but well their carrer interessed me until the early 80's ...i don't know why (a reflex?) ...yes the second part of my mission begin...
